GROUND Asia won a ‘GameChanger 2019’ award in the “Services – Travel & Wellness” category at the 2019 Netherlands-Thailand Chamber of Commerce (NTCC) GameChangers Business Awards 2019, 29 November at the Conrad, Bangkok.

Thirteen shortlisted companies in four categories presented to judges and an audience of over 400 business people and invited guests at the event. Nominated companies were pre-vetted by a jury of senior representatives from the Netherlands embassy, Chulalongkorn University, Thailand’s National Innovation Agency, and the NTCC.

The thirteen companies gave presentations at the award. The audience picked four winners by voting via mobile phone.

Nominees in the categories of Services – Travel & Wellness, Agri-Food, Tech, and Industry were judged according to criteria such as innovation, sustainability, Dutch-Thai collaboration, overall business success, and impact.

Lauren Groves, General Manager, of GROUND Asia gave the final pitch and received the award on stage at the event.

“We are grateful for the opportunity to present the admirable work young people do for community development in Asia to the judges,” she said. “We are particularly proud that most of GROUND Asia’s projects for students are aligned with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.”

Since 2015, GROUND Asia has worked with some of the most disadvantaged communities in Southeast Asia. These include people who are vulnerable or struggling with poverty, lack of access to services and infrastructure, and even the early adverse effects of climate change.

Today, GROUND Asia partners with communities across Asia to assist in their sustainable development. The communities it works with are its clients. To meet their expectations, GROUND Asia aims to empower communities through mutually beneficial programs to ensure their needs come first.

The other ‘GameChanger’ winners on the evening were: Agri Solutions Asia (Agri-Food), Skypoint Hospitality & Technology (Tech), ZI-ARGUS (Industry).

Earlier this year, GROUND Asia’s Responsible Traveller Training Program was shortlisted in the Best Social Responsibility category at the 2019 Global Youth Travel Awards. Judges also shortlisted GROUND Asia as one of the Best Sustainable Organisations in the global educational field.
