Global Tourism Council (GTC) has scheduled to organise its inaugural convention in Cairo from 16 to 19 September 2018 at Marriott Cairo & Omar Khayyam Casino.

Iqbal Mulla, Chief Council, Global Tourism Council (GTC), said: “Egypt is a marvellous, historic destination and Cairo is similar to Mumbai, as the city never sleeps. The theme of the convention is ‘Innovate & Invest’, to help the trade face new challenges emerging with changing times and technology and to educate them on ways to invest. Our focus is to promote tourism between India and Egypt and facilitate investments in different industries, including tourism. We will also help foster ties between film and entertainment industry of both countries-be it distribution, film shoot, setting-up of new theatres and more.”

GTC, a trust of expert industry leaders formed in 2016, aims to help accelerate bilateral ties between India and potential countries. Parallel events of three verticals- Tourism conclave, Investment summit and Film industry connect programs will be held over the three day event.

Ismail Amer, Egyptian Tourism Counselor, Regional Director Far East & Pacific Countries, said: “We chose to join GTC as it’s a brilliant and creative idea to connect three verticals – tourism, investments and film industry. Egypt gives an excellent mixture of all three. With natural and man-made attractions, easy access and easy visa it’s the right time, as we are a kind of re-launching Egypt after a brief hic-up.”

Mr Amer added: “Egypt is really a developing country with many new corridors of development. We look forward to convert interactions at the event into real business and continue relationships even beyond Egypt with Egypt as a node. We already have 50 Indian investors working or about to start work in Egypt. We’ll explore treasure between two countries”.

103,000 Indians visited Egypt in 2017 and 140,000 are expected this year. Mr Amer opined that there’s a potential for four times more arrivals from India in 3 years time, if flights were increased. Egypt Air connects Mumbai and Cairo with 4 weekly flights and is operating at full loads.

Manoj Gursahani, GTC member, said: “We can further explore trade ties with Middle East and North Africa regions. India’s a hub of start-up eco-systems. GTC is looking at outcome based B2B meetings for any industry, be it pharma, Information Technology, luxury and more.

GTC has set a mission to partner, facilitate and consult with a minimum of 1000 industry players of global trade and tourism industry by 2020. Mr Mulla said that the council is getting good response and that three more countries have shown interest in hosting their forthcoming conventions.

Delegates to the first three day convention in Cairo are also given a choice of pre and post tour to explore Egypt. Those interested in attending the event can register by visiting http://globaltourismcouncil.com/events.
