Gulf Air, the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, recently celebrated three successful years of service to Madina Al-Munawarah in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Gulf Air celebrates third year of service to Madina Al-Munawarah3To mark the occasion the airline’s Acting Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Maher Salman Al Musallam hosted a dinner attended by Engineer Abdul Fatah Atta, Mr. Sami Isawi, Director General of Administrative Development, and Secretary General of Chairman of the Haj Committee in Madina Al-Munawarah, and Dr. Ahmed Sharqawi, General Manager Operation (Taibiah Airports operator), among other senior civil aviation and airport officials and members of the media.

Gulf Air which launched its operations to Madina Al-Munawarah in 2010 with a four times weekly operation, now offers five flights a week between Bahrain and the religious hub. This schedule increase earlier this year provides an additional 272 seats offering greater travel options for Saudi business travellers and tourists to travel to Bahrain and onwards while giving more flight options for religious travellers whether from Bahrain or elsewhere to enter the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Commenting on the third anniversary of Gulf Air’s service to Madina, Mr. Maher Salman AlMusallam commented, “We have been flying to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia since 1950 and own the distinction of being the first international airline to land in Riyadh in 1982. Since then we have continuously expanded and strengthened our presence in the Kingdom. Today, we operate to four destinations in the Kingdom including Medina, which, since its launch three years ago has developed into a strong route for the airline.”

He added, “Saudi Arabia, with its close proximity to Bahrain, has always been, and will continue to be an important market for Gulf Air. We predict that ongoing demand will grow and, with Gulf Air operating one of the largest networks in the region, with hundreds of connections in under three hours to other regional, African, Asian and European destinations we are ideally positioned to capitalize on this growth.”

Gulf Air’s Medina Al-Munawarah flight is operated by new A320 planes, fitted with the latest in-flight-entertainment system offering hundreds of channels of entertainment including a recently added new video channel featuring the full 30 chapters of the Holy Quran (all 114 Surahs) in both Arabic and English, a step-by-step ‘how to’ guide for Hajj and Umrah in four different languages and a special Dua’a channel.

Madina Al-Munawarah customers have even more convenient choices to connect to the greater MENA region and Europe, via Bahrain, while they can visit North America with Gulf Air’s codeshare partner American Airlines. Passengers can also connect to Mumbai, Delhi, Kochi and Chennai within one hour via Bahrain.
