Wellness 2014 at Gwinganna – new programs and new treatments

Gwinganna Lifestyle Retreat continues to lead the way in Australian wellness destinations with a new program for winter, new specialty Ayurvedic treatments and a signature aromatherapy blend. In conjunction with the retreat’s eighth birthday, an exclusive online program for previous guests will also be released helping them continue Gwinganna’s key principles of better health and wellness at home.

New program – Winter Detox

Gwinganna, the most awarded retreat and spa in Queensland, is introducing a new Detox package tailored to the winter season, when rest is a priority. The seven night program is aimed at replenishing the body, restoring adrenal balance and rebuilding the immune system following an often depleting summer.

Gwinganna Program Director and Teacher of Yoga and Qi Gong, Donna Abbate says adrenal overload from summer can lead to a lower immune system and imbalanced hormones.  Winter is therefore the season for nutritious warming foods to bring balance back to the kidneys and adrenal glands and reset your whole system. Winter is not the time for high stress, dieting and an overload of exercise. It is a good time to get energy (qi) moving with light exercise such as walking or biking in the fresh air to prevent stagnation.

Retreat dates: 8-15 June, 29 June-6 July and 20-27 July 2014, starting from $2905 per person double share.

New Ayurvedic treatments and signature products – Subtle Energies

For the first time at an Australian retreat, guests will be able to experience specialised Ayurvedic Aromatherapy treatments from Subtle Energies. On the menu will be Abhyang Fusion, a full body massage incorporating various styles of therapy, Padabhyang, a specialised leg and foot massage, and the new Subtle Energies Signature Chakra treatment, which can be added to enhance any other treatment, all of which will be available at Gwinganna from April 2014. Gwinganna has also worked with Subtle Energies to create a signature aromatherapy blend, which will be available in a concentrate, massage blend, mist and bath salts.

Gwinganna is the only Eco Tourism certified retreat in Australia and offers the widest variety of retreat stays each providing an educational component to take home and implement. For more details visit
