Hamad International Airport, Doha, was announced today as the third best international airport in the world by Condé Nast Traveler following the results of its 29th annual Readers’ Choice Awards

Engr. Badr Mohammed Al Meer, Chief Operating Officer of Hamad International Airport, stated: “It is a great pleasure to be acknowledged among the best 3 airports in the world, especially as we were selected by travelers who have experienced our airport first hand. It is wonderful to hear that global travelers appreciate the world-class experience that we have created so that they can enjoy a seamless journey through our airport. We will continue working to fulfil our passengers’ expectations and, together with our partners, ensure that Hamad International Airport remains among the world’s best.”

Hamad International Airport opened in 2014, and remains one of the most technologically advanced airports in the world. Located conveniently within six hours of 80 percent of the world’s population, HIA-Qatar is rapidly becoming a preferred global transfer hub.

HIA is an award-winning airport with services and facilities that include Qatar Duty Free, a premium shopping emporium with more than 40,000 square metres of combined retail and dining with more than 70 boutiques and 30 cafés and restaurants. HIA-Qatar also boasts an airside hotel, two airside squash courts, a gym, a 25-metre swimming pool and spa, all within easy reach of the departure gates. The airport also features two runways with dual capacity, one of the largest free span maintenance hangars in the world, a cutting-edge two-storey cargo facility and one of the world’s largest self-contained catering facilities.

The Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards are the longest-running and most prestigious recognition of excellence in the travel industry and are commonly known as “the best of the best of travel.” Under Editor in Chief Pilar Guzmán, the Readers’ Choice Awards have become more selective and specific to the passions that inspire today’s travelers.

The Readers’ Choice Awards are announced in the November issue of Condé Nast Traveler, on newsstands nationwide on 25 October, 2016. The full list is published exclusively online, at www.CNTraveler.com/rca.
