As a manifestation of our high commitment to give back to the community and provide vital aid to the victims of the recent Lombok earthquakes, Mövenpick Resort & Spa Jimbaran Bali hosted an inspiring charity event on Sunday, 16 September 2018.

This action follows an earlier response taken by Mövenpick Resort & Spa Jimbaran Bali in the immediate aftermath of the first earthquake, whereby a team of employees visited North Lombok on 10th August 2018 to deliver urgent supplies and medication.

The Voice of Lombok charity concert was initiated in collaboration with Elizabeth International School with the primary aim to raise funds and help those directly impacted by this devasting act of nature. More than 200 people gathered in the resort’s well-appointed Akasa Ballroom for an evening of uplifting music headlined by renowned Indonesian diva TitiDJ. She was accompanied on stage by a number ofleading musicians including acclaimed Balinese flute player Gus Teja.

Co-founder of the Ubud Village Jazz Festival, Astrid Sulaiman, also participated in this commendable charity initiative together with her Jazz Quartet. There was upbeat music from local band GlamBeer, as well as a performance by Just One Tea who came from Lombok especially for the event.

Titi DJ whom accompanied by Djampiro Band truly lived up to her diva reputation by putting her heart and soul into the concert. The committee has encouraged the audience to dig deep into their pockets and even auctioned off a song in order toraise more funds. One lucky bidder had the chance to join Titi DJ on stage for an exclusive duet and photo opportunity.

A grand total of almost IDR 200 million was collected from ticket sales along with generous donations made on the night itself. All of these proceeds will used to help purchase whatever is needed in the way of basic humanitarian aid.

“I am overwhelmed by the sheer level of support shown to this worthy cause. Although there were many hands involved, it was essentially a community-driven effort. This charity event is part of a more long-term undertaking to help the people of Lombok as they slowly recover and rebuild their lives,” says Mr. Horst Walther-Jones, GeneralManager of Mövenpick Resort & Spa Jimbaran Bali.

Elizabeth International Hotel Management School, a respected hotel school with a strong social and philanthropy conscience, is honoured to have played an active role in this charity concert. What initially began as a passing conversation with the team at Movenpick Resort & Spa Jimbaran Bali soon evolved to become a grand scale event. It was a collaboration that was all very organic with many performers, musicians and artists eager to participate. We trust that the funds raised will help ease the suffering of the earthquake victims who have lost their homes and livelihoods.
