As Kiwis celebrate their national Waitangi Day today, AAT Kings is marking the occasion by unveiling its all-new 2014/15 New Zealand holiday program complete with an enhanced range of guided holidays, short breaks and small group journeys.

AAT Kings Global Managing Director, Anthony Hayes, says it’s a fitting day to launch the new-look New Zealand program and collateral showcasing the Land of the Long White Cloud.

“Our goal every day is to share Australia and New Zealand with our guests and to bring both destinations to life, so it’s great to be able to launch our 2014/15 New Zealand product on such a landmark day for Kiwis. What a great way to get those of us who live on the West Island excited about visiting New Zealand in the coming months!

“Both the North and South Islands have plenty of wow factor whether its Rotorua’s geothermal reserve, the grandeur of Mt Cook, adventure capital Queenstown, tasting award-winning wines on Waiheke Island or witnessing the wonders of Franz Josef Glacier and Milford Sound. On an AAT Kings holiday to New Zealand, our guests will do more than just see the sights as our friendly and engaging guides share their knowledge and stories with them.” unnamed (7)

Waitangi Day celebrates the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi, New Zealand’s founding document, dating back to 6 February, 1840. The treaty made New Zealand a part of the British Empire, guaranteed Maori rights to their land and gave Maori the rights of British subjects. Guests can visit the historic Waitangi Treaty Reserve themselves on all AAT Kings’ holidays to the Bay of Islands.

From a trade perspective, Hayes said the New Zealand program has been released almost two months earlier than in previous years to continue the momentum that AAT Kings has achieved since the brand’s October relaunch, and importantly to give agents the new look collateral and experiences in line with the already released Australia and 52 Brilliant Breaks brochures.

The new New Zealand program is packed full of Food and Wine, Nature and Wildlife, Cultural Experiences, Family Experiences, Active Adventures and Winter Escapes, whether guests choose an AAT Kings guided holiday, short break or AAT Kings’ Inspiring Journeys Small Group Journey. Hotel enhancements have also been made across the program and the length of the small group journeys have increased to include more.

Highlights from the 2014/15 program include a new You’re Invited dining experience at Shenandoah, a Victorian station villa just outside Wellington, where hosts Simon and Claudia welcome guests to the site of where early settlers to New Zealand made contact with the locals. Guests learn about the history and look around the property, which these days includes a private collection of Harley Davidson motor cycles and a museum, before enjoying an afternoon tea in the garden and a short walk to see local wildlife including pheasants, peacocks and friendly Highland cows. The 18-day Best of New Zealand, 15-day New Zealand Splendour and 8-day Northern Discovery guided holidays visit Shenandoah.

Also new are three Short Breaks – the 4-day East Meets West showcasing some of Auckland’s best food and wine with tastings on Waiheke Island and in Kumeu; the 6-day Alpine Adventure offering touring from Christchurch to Queenstown via Mt Cook; and the 5-day Hollyford Walk from Queenstown and including world-class hiking, lodge accommodation plus a Hollyford River Jet Boat Ride and a Milford Sound Scenic Flight. There are seven Short Breaks to choose from ranging from four to seven days with a standard or first class level of accommodation option for each.

AAT Kings guided holidays include First Choice and Best Buys options to suit different needs and budgets. First Choice holidays travel at a leisurely pace and feature more two-night stays throughout with some later departure times. They include quality accommodation,You’re Invited dining experiences, a Welcome Reception, Included Choices and optional experiences as well as visits to all major highlights. Best Buys holidays include comfortable accommodation, mostly overnight stays, visits to several must-see highlights, many meals and a Welcome Reception, standard departure times as well as optional experiences.

AAT Kings is offering a fantastic Early Payment Discount of up to 7.5% across its New Zealand guided holidays and small group journeys for travellers who book and pay-in-full before 28 April, 2014, with brochures currently being distributed to agents around the country.
