World Trademark Review (WTR) has presented Hard Rock International (HRI) with a WTR Industry Award, naming the hospitality and entertainment brand the Trademark Team of the Year in the Travel and Leisure category. The other nominees in the category were Expedia, InterContinental Hotels Group, Marriott International and Starwood Hotels & Resorts. WTR, the world’s only independent daily news and information service targeted to international trademark professionals, honored Hard Rock for its work in the areas of active prosecution and enforcement of trademarks, successful portfolio exploitation and rationalization, determination and diligence to ensure efficient cooperation with outside counsel, global attitude towards brand expansion and protection and quality of internal organization and in-house processes.

“Corporate trademark practices are essential to the continued success and growth of our brand,” said Hamish Dodds, President and CEO of Hard Rock International. “This award recognizes the ongoing efforts of our industry-leading internal legal department to protect and grow our world-renowned and valuable brand.”

Each year, WTR honors leading in-house departments and groups through its WTR Industry Awards. The WTR Industry Awards are designed to recognize the vitally important work carried out by in-house trademark counsel and identify teams and individuals that are performing their functions to the highest possible standards. The shortlist and winners serve as a testament to the innovative work being undertaken by corporate trademark counsel across the globe.

“All of this year’s shortlisted teams and individuals represent the best in class, which made judging the awards both a gratifying and difficult process. The winners really do represent best practice in the trademark industry, and deserve special recognition for their exceptional achievements,” said Trevor Little, editor of World Trademark Review.
