With the cream of the Cornish Tourism Industry gathered together in Truro Cathedral for the 2018 Cornwall Tourism Awards, The Lost Gardens of Heligan  were delighted to scoop Gold, in the ‘Large Attraction of The Year’ category.

“We are incredibly honoured to receive this prestigious award. The Cornwall Tourism Awards are fiercely competed and judged rigorously, so to win Gold as Large Attraction of the year in the UK’s favourite holiday region is just incredible. This award is one for the whole team at Heligan, who have worked very hard throughout this year.”

George Elworthy, Managing Director, The Lost Gardens of Heligan.

The Cornwall Tourism Award judges not only made secret visits to each attraction but also looked at all aspects of the business, such as online presence, accessibility and green credentials as part of the judging process. To be amongst the winners was a very significant achievement indeed.  They were joined as finalists by The National Trusts Glendurgan and Trelissick Gardens.

After a black-tie dinner and plenty of nail biting, Heligan was named ‘Large Attraction of The Year’ 2018/19. Marketing Manager Lorna Tremayne and Digital Media Manager James Stephens took to the stage to accept the award from the Cornwall Tourism Awards.

It has already been an award-winning year for The Lost Gardens, named BBC Countryfile Magazine’s ‘Garden of the Year’ and voted Number 1 Garden in the South West by Garden News Magazine; making the Cornwall Tourism Awards Heligan’s first hat-trick this year.

Hoping to continue in their winning ways, Heligan have also been named as a finalist in the Best UK Leisure/ Heritage Attraction category of the 2018 British Travel Awards. Having won this prestigious award in both 2017 and 2016, Heligan hopes to complete their second hat-trick later in this month.
