Hey there’s more than one break at Breakas!

image002-2With Port Villa located on one side of Vanuatu’s Efate Island, Breakas Beach Resort is located on a huge white sandy beach on the Pango Peninsula, not far from Port Vila, but far enough,  but it gets better, with as you might imagine being called “Breakas” there are some great surf breaks just off the beach at, yes you got it … Breakas!

Breakas Beach Resort is a pretty laid back place, providing a pretty magical holiday experience in an adults only environment, which means you can leave the kids at home – I can hear the cheering!

I really liked that the paths between the sixty plus fares with private outdoor bathrooms, were all sand, so no shoes required here and the what appeared to be many thousands swaying palms provide plenty of shade.

image004-1The 2km private beach is simply stunning, with the left and right surf breaks crashing just off the reef in the background, but maybe a tad too much coal for easy swimming.

Having said that, the kayaks were a great experience paddling amongst the reef and the 22-meter infinity edge pool, with a swim up bar, simple perfect … THE place to soak up the sun and relax with an ice cold cocktail.

Breakas’ private cove location also means that snorkeling, SCUBA diving, surfing, hiking, kite-surfing, wind-surfing and relaxing on the beach are possible all year round, with other Breakas’ facilities including a Sun Bathing Pavilion, a great restaurant serving local and international food including great local fish, on the beach dining which for me was wonderful, a day spa, room service and more and oh, for those that simply need to stay connected … broadband internet access

With really friendly and welcoming staff at Breakas, I am now off through the sand to have what I know will be some incredible cocktails watching the sunset, a superb dinner and then enjoy some of the nightly entertainment including local traditional dancers and easy listening musicians … now that is relaxing!
