The Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games ended on 28th August after a spectacular closing ceremony with International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach declaring the Games a “perfectly flawless” event.

The 13-day impressive event not only showcased the beauty and the culture of Nanjing (the capital city of Jiangsu province), but also aroused the attention from the world to explore the charm of other cities in Jiangsu. To welcome more and more tourists to visit Zhenjiang, a brand new cultural performance season called “Hi Weekend” will take place every weekend and holiday from September 20th 2014 to January 9th 2015.

On August 25th, the IOC President Bach’s wife visited Zhenjiang museum and Xijin historical and cultural blocks. She was deeply attracted by the cultural relics displayed in the museum and expressed her appreciation and enjoyment of Zhenjiang’s 3,000 years’ history. As the nearest city to Nanjing, it only takes 30 minutes by train from Nanjing going to Zhenjiang, which has led the public attention to the 30-minute tourism circle from Nanjing to this tourist city since the Second Summer Youth Olympic Games was successfully held in Nanjing.

“Zhenjiang is a historical city with profound culture and beautiful natural scenery,” said Mrs. Bach. Zhenjiang preserves its typical old town views and historical cultures with ancient buildings and local delicacies, examples include the ancient buildings incorporated with current fashion perfectly in Xijin Ferry historical and cultural street. Lingering over the street, tourists can see the historical trace everywhere. At the same time, a variety of recently popular performances including Chinese pop music, stage plays, Yueju opera, Russian ballet and Korean traditional dancing will be on the show at Xijin Ferry historical and cultural street to create a fresh audio-visual experience through the ancient and modern, Chinese and foreign cultural collision.

As the next station of Nanjing, Zhenjiang surprises people with its culture, natural scenery and interesting food culture. The most famous Zhenjiang specialties are Chinkiang Vinegar, the pot cover noodles and Chinkiang salted pork in jelly. Each of them has its special recipe and interesting story waiting for you to find out.
