High Five Welcomes Muslims to Taiwan

Thanks to the New Southbound Policy launched in 2016, Taiwan’s connections with ASEAN countries, South Asia, New Zealand, and Australia have grown even stronger. http://www.tourismlegal.com.au/Accordingly, Taiwan has become more welcoming to Muslims, with an increase in suitable facilities, availability of halal foods and restaurants, and overall awareness showing respect towards Muslims. According to the GMTI: CrescentRating Global Muslim Travel Index 2017, Taiwan is stunningly ranked 7th among the top 10 non-Muslim destination countries in the report; Taiwan’s growth in the travel index is ranked 2nd, a great recognition of the Taiwanese government’s efforts to promote tourism, making Taiwan a popular choice for business events among Muslim communities.

In recent years, with collective efforts from various public sectors, Taiwan is now more Muslim-friendly. Muslim prayer rooms are available in meeting and event facilities island wide such as the TICC, Taipei World Trade Exhibition Center Hall 1, Ambassador Hotel in Kaohsiung, and public transport hubs including the Taoyuan International Airport, Taipei and Kaohsiung Train Stations, THSR stations, and Kaohsiung International Airport, providing designated space for undisturbed prayers. Both central and local governments actively promote halal certification among dining facilities. So far more than 100 food and beverage service providers around Taiwan have been certified, offering Muslim-friendly environments for leisure and business travelers, ensuring pleasant experiences for all kinds of activities in Taiwan.

MEET TAIWAN, Taiwan’s MICE Promotion Program, spares no effort in attracting Muslims to Taiwan for meetings and events. To further enhance Taiwan’s visibility and promote Taiwan’s Muslim-friendly environment, MEET TAIWAN held roadshows in Penang, Malaysia, and Jakarta, Indonesia, and exhibited at the TAIWAN EXPO 2017 in Indonesia and Malaysia. It is hoped that more Muslims will choose Taiwan for their business events and High Five with Taiwan!
