Hilton Honors Puts Members in the Driver’s Seat with Refreshed Loyalty Offerings

April 10, 2017 Loyalty No Comments Email Email

Hilton Honors has announced new industry-first benefits based on what members said they wanted most – more flexibility, more value and more ways to use their Points. Hilton Honors became the first and only loyalty program allowing members the choice to flexibly combine Points and money for a hotel stay, to allow family and friends to combine their Points for free, to use their Hilton Honors Points to make purchases when shopping on, and the ability to extend Diamond status when life puts travel on pause. Meanwhile, in the lead up to the 2017 Formula 1 Heineken Chinese Grand Prix, Hilton continues to provide exclusive access to events that money can’t buy for Honors members – including an exhilarating McLaren supercar driving experience today at Waldorf Astoria Shanghai on the Bund and exclusive access to the VIP Experience, leveraging on Hilton’s partnership with McLaren-Honda.

“At Hilton, we believe our purpose is to fill the earth with the light and warmth of hospitality – by delivering exceptional experiences – every hotel, every guest, every time,” said Wendy Huang, Senior Vice President and Commercial Director, Greater China & Mongolia, Hilton. “This includes offering heartfelt experiences for our loyal members through Hilton Honors at our hotels in Asia Pacific, such as Waldorf Astoria Shanghai on the Bund, and exclusive access to events that money can’t buy. Meanwhile, our partnership with the McLaren-Honda team highlights our commitment to working with like-minded partners to offer our guests more – more value, more access and more experiences.”

Today’s once-in-a-lifetime experience was available to Hilton Honors members on the Honors auction website, where members could use their loyalty points to redeem the exclusive opportunity. The redeeming members enjoyed an unforgettable drive along the Bund – Shanghai’s most famous heritage landmark – in a McLaren 570S supercar, and the chance to meet with Johnny Herbert, the former Formula 1 driver at the evening cocktail reception. Following the excitement of the drive, the lucky guests were able to indulge in a luxury 2-night stay in a Junior Suite at Waldorf Astoria Shanghai on the Bund. Meanwhile, a second series of packages included access to the McLaren VIP Experience at the 2017 Formula 1 Heineken Chinese Grand Prix on April 7-9, including 2 entries for each day of the weekend events, and a one night stay at Hilton Shanghai. This exclusive experience was made possible by Hilton’s partnership with the McLaren-Honda Formula 1 team, spanning back to 2005, which has seen Hilton serve as a “home away from home” for some of the top names in racing, including current drivers, two-time World Champion Fernando Alonso and rookie driver, Stoffel Vandoorne.

Beyond offering the ability to bid for and redeem exclusive experiences on its auction site, Hilton Honors’ refreshed loyalty offerings introduce a new look and industry first benefits for Hilton Honors, providing more flexibility, more value, and more ways for Honors members to use their Points:

  • Points & Money: members can use a new Points slider to choose nearly any combination of Hilton Honors Points and money.
  • Amazon Shop with Points: members will soon be able to use their Hilton Honors Points to make purchases when shopping on
  • Points Pooling: members can now combine their Hilton Honors Points with family and friends for a stay – perfect when traveling for group events. Hilton is the only hotel company that offers this for free with no transaction fees.
