Hilton has today opened Hilton Port Moresby, marking the hospitality company’s first hotel in Papua New Guinea. The 212- room property adds to Hilton’s existing portfolio of 24 operating hotels and 9 pipeline hotels in Australasia.

As part of an agreement with Star Mountain Plaza, Hilton will also manage the newly completed and state-of-the-art Kutubu Convention Centre, which features plenary space for up to 800 people.

Hilton Port Moresby comprises of 164 Guest Rooms of 33 square metres, 46 Executive Suites of 46.5 square metres, and two Chairman Suites of 117 square-metres; all featuring floor to ceiling windows. The property also includes five restaurants and bars, an outdoor pool and whirlpool, and a Fitness Centre. For executive guests, there is also the Executive Lounge serving complimentary breakfast, all-day snacks and evening drinks and canapés.

Located in the government district of Port Moresby, Hilton Port Moresby is located just 10 minutes from Jacksons International Airport. The property is also a short drive from the waterfront shopping and dining precinct of Harbourside, Vision City Mega Mall, Port Moresby golf club as well as Port Moresby Nature Park, Rouna Falls and the National Orchid Garden.

Built over two stages, the entire US$400million Star Mountain Plaza project and operation is overseen and controlled by Mineral Resources Development Company Limited (MRDC). MRDC is 100% owned by the Papua New Guinea government and manages landowners and provincial governments’ equity interests in Mining and Petroleum projects in PNG. The opening of Hilton Port Moresby and the Kutubu Convention Centre represents the completion of stage one of the Star Mountain Plaza development.
