Hilton San Francisco Union Square Names Michael Vaughn as Hotel’s New Executive Chef

Michael Vaughn has been named Executive Chef of the 1,919-room Hilton San Francisco Union Square. Vaughn will oversee the hotels culinary operations to include Urban Tavern Restaurant, Herb n’ Kitchen, Cityscape and all catering for meeting and event functions. 

A native of Chicago, Vaughn started his culinary career at the age of 15 after a family move to Scottsdale, AZ.  Vaughn’s culinary philosophy includes a strong emphasis on using local-grown, fresh products of the season and his passion always leans towards environmentally responsible goods. He is excited to continue building long lasting partnerships with local growers, ranchers, cheese mongers and others that share his same vision here in the Bay Area.

Chef Vaughn’s most recent position was as Executive Chef Task Force Americas for Hilton Worldwide where he assisted properties across the company’s portfolio with tasks such as: creative menu development, unique ingredient sourcing, restaurant and bar openings along with team member mentoring helping to build the future of Chefs in the industry. Previously, Vaughn held several executive management positions at a variety of hotels and restaurants throughout the United States, including; Waldorf Astoria Chicago, Chicago, IL – Executive Chef; and La Quinta Resort & Club, La Quinta, CA – Executive Sous Chef and Chef de Cuisine at Twenty6 Restaurant & MD Burger Spot. Additionally, Vaughn has held management positions for Kanaloa Seafood Company- Santa Barbara, CA; Rock Creek Cattle Company- Deer Lodge, MT; Sunrise Company- Toscana Country Club – Indian Wells, CA; Discoveryland- Mountaintop Golf and Lake Club- Cashiers, NC; The Rim Golf Club- Payson, AZ; Starwood Westin Kierland Resort- Deseo Restaurant- Scottsdale, AZ;  Elements at the Sanctuary Resort- Paradise Valley, AZ;  Fog City Diner/ Bistecca Steakhouse- Scottsdale, AZ; The Boulders Resort- Carefree, AZ; 5 & Diner- Glendale, AZ. Vaughn attended the Culinary Institute of America Greystone- St. Helena, CA.

Hilton San Francisco Union Square Names Mike Raub Executive Chef of Urban Tavern…San Francisco’s Newest Gastro Pub

Mike Raub has been named Executive Chef of San Francisco’s newest gastro pub, Urban Tavern. Located right off the corner of O’Farrell and Mason streets, at the nexus of Union Square and The Tenderoin, the restaurant is on the lobby level of the Hilton San Francisco Union Square.

Most recently the Executive Chef at The Hotel Nikko San Francisco, Raub has an extensive background in culinary arts. His wealth of experience, includes chef positions with San Francisco’s Palace Hotel; AME Restaurant at St. Regis San Francisco; Ad Hoc Restaurant, Yountville, CA; Bouchon Bistro, Yountville, CA; The French Laundry, Yountville, CA; The Mansion at Judges Hill, Austin, TX; The Hilton, Austin, TX; and The Inn at Beaver Creek, Beaver Creek, CA.

Parc 55 San Francisco – A Hilton Hotel Names Nathan Davis as Food & Beverage Director

Nathan Davis has been named Director of Food & Beverage for the Parc 55 San Francisco – A Hilton Hotel, according to Complex General Manager Steve Cowan.

With nearly 30 years of restaurant and hotel experience, Davis brings his expertise from directing numerous luxury hotel operations in San Francisco, Napa Valley and the Peninsula, which includes Stanford Park Hotel, Hotel Yountville, Solage Calistoga, W Hotel San Francisco and Renaissance Parc 55. He came to the Bay Area to pursue his love of wine after graduating from the University of Arizona. An avid foodie and a San Francisco local, Davis will oversee Cable 55 and banquet operations for the hotel.

Hilton San Francisco Union Square Opens Cityscape San Francisco Lounge…Featuring Breathtaking Views from the Hotel’s 46th Floor

Hilton San Francisco Union Square recently opened Cityscape San Francisco Lounge, located on the hotel’s 46th floor. The viewing lounge welcomes guests from 5:00 p.m. to Midnightevery day of the week. Featuring breathtaking, 360-degree panoramic views of the entire Bay Area and San Francisco’s most iconic landmarks, the Cityscape lounge offers small plates and appetizers, signature cocktails, wines by the glass, a variety of beers on tap, fine spirits and the best, most coveted viewing platform in the city.

Designed as one of the top “must see” attractions in San Francisco, Cityscape is the quintessential destination for those that want to experience the city’s most dynamic views and enjoy the “lay of the land” as guests are treated to sights that can only be seen from the vantage point of the Hilton San Francisco Union Square’s tower one.

“No two days look the same from Cityscape, where San Francisco weather flows over the ever changing skyline,” said Lenny Gumm, general manager, Cityscape. “What doesn’t change are the 360-degree views enjoyed through 14-foot floor-to-ceiling windows and the great food and drinks to enjoy with them.”

In addition to general public access for individuals, couples and small parties, Cityscape also offers private corners of the lounge for groups of 20 in the Bay Section with stunning views of the Golden Gate Bridge as well as the entire space for up to 350 guests for a total buy out of the lounge. Special menus will be arranged and groups will enjoy the exclusivity of their own reserved space and VIP service.

Hilton San Francisco Union Square Expands Service at Urban Tavern…San Francisco’s Newest Gastro Pub

Urban Tavern represents a new option for casually modern dining right off the corner of O’Farrell and Mason streets, located in the nexus of Union Square and The Tenderloin. Opening on October 30, 2016, the new restaurant will be serving dinner from 5:00-10:00 p.m., with the bar open until 11:00 p.m.

Featuring a full menu of locally-inspired cuisine, Urban Tavern has the distinctive personality of a metropolitan gastro pub, which highlights 50 wines within 50 miles, Bay Area beers and indigenous spirits.

A reflection of San Francisco’s bounty of seasonal ingredients, the diverse menu highlights premium products with a local flair, including Candied Pork Belly, Ahi-Salmon Hamachi Poke, Devil Fried Duck Eggs, Wild Mushrooms and Blackened Cauliflower, to name a few house specialties.

As the new Executive Chef for Urban Tavern, Mike Raub has an extensive background in culinary arts, most recently working for the Thomas Keller Restaurant Group, St. Regis Hotel and neighboring Nikko Hotel. An avid cyclist, Raub joined fellow chefs from around the world to bike 300 miles in three days in support of No Kids Go Hungry in California Schools.
