Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua Beach Resort successfully served as official host venue for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) 2013. The conferences were held in Nusa Dua, Bali, in a series of events since early August and ended on Tuesday, October 8.

It was a momentous milestone for the resort, as seven important highlighted points were achieved from the gathering of international delegates and heads of state at The Retreat Grand Room, among Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua Resort’s InpiredMeetings™ venues.

The hotel welcomed 21 members – referred to as “member economies” – which account for approximately 40 percent of the world’s population, approximately 55 percent of world GDP and about 44 percent of world trade, APEC members include Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Canada, Chile, The People’s Republic of China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, The Republic of the Philippines, The Russian Federation, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, the United States of America and Vietnam.

Throughout APEC 2013, the newly opened, lavish beachfront resort that reflects the brand’s combination of French elegance and flair with warm Balinese hospitality, rich culture and fine arts, offered delegates and honorable state representatives from these 21 member nations with memorable opportunities, through its various leisure and conference facilities. The island’s latest and most innovative conference and meetings services, InpiredMeetings™, comprises state-of-the-art conference and meeting rooms – a Grand Ballroom, a Retreat Grand Room, four Meeting Rooms, and one Boardroom – all well-equipped and featuring names inspired by traditional Balinese dances and musical instruments.

The Retreat Grand Room in particular, was the focal designated venue for the APEC 2013 conferences and activities, which offered a beachfront location with splendid ocean views, one of the best highlights enjoyed by the APEC summit. The Grand Gamelan Retreat Grand Room holds up to 420 persons with 573sqm of space and a soaring ceiling. The name is derived from the famous traditional Balinese orchestral sets that accompany most of the performing arts and rituals in Bali. Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua Beach Resort is one among only a few to feature a Grand Room with such spectacular views.

Mr. Goran Aleks, General Manager of Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua Resort, expressed, “We would like to convey our genuine appreciation to all supporters who have helped make this notable international event a historical moment. I believe that Sofitel will create many more magnifique stories in Bali.”
