To celebrate HNA Group’s entering the elite ranks of the Fortune Global 500, underscore its international presence and to raise funds for charity, the 2016 Global Charity Relay Run organized by HNA Group officially commenced with the route covering 28 cities in total where HNA Group owns its business, and acted as a return of favor to the society through “HNA Send Love Home” program.

Today, the 2016 Global Charity Relay Run started its first station in Haikou, Hainan. Before the start, 3,476 participants engaged in an aerobic exercise session in HNA Cultural Plaza, Haikou, breaking the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS(TM) title of “Most People Exercising to a Fitness Video”.

After Haikou, the first station of the Global Charity Relay Run, the forthcoming series of 5km races will be held within a month until the end of January 2016 around the globe covering Asia, Asia Pacific, Africa, Europe and North America. Some 15 cities(1) in China will be included such as Haikou, Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chongqing and 13 cities(2) around the world such as Singapore, London, Amsterdam, Toronto, New York, Chicago, Accra and Sydney will also host races. The venue of the “HNA Group Annual Commendation and Celebration of Entry in the Global 500 Ceremony” in Haikou, China will be the last station of the Global Charity Relay Run.

The Haikou charity run also achieved a new milestone for the Group and participants by breaking the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS(TM) title! The 3,476 participating runners were divided into 24 teams and conducted exercises following a 6.5-minute fitness video at the start, which broke the previous record of 3,227 for a fitness video exercise group in Cheshire, UK. An adjudicator from Guinness World Records and all people on the scene witnessed the historical moment when the adjudicator confirmed the new world record.

The distance that all runners have run in the Global Charity Relay Run will be translated into mileage to be donated by the Group to Fortune Wings Club on a 1:1 basis, and subsequently redeemed into charity tickets for the beneficiary students under the “HNA Send Love Home” program so they can fly back home to spend the Chinese New Year Holiday with their families and loved ones.

Meanwhile, HNA Group together with Tencent Charity Foundation has invited the public to donate their “Walking Distance for Charity” to HNA’s five signature charity projects through Weixin Yundong. The “Walking Distance for Charity” donations will be transformed into a corresponding charitable foundation amount with the aim to support HNA’s corporate social responsibility and charitable services.
