Ho Chi Minh City Cultivating A Commercial Affair With Australia

The Investment and Trade Promotion Centre of Ho Chi Minh City is in Australia with a mission to target Australian corporations and investors and entice them to focus on the city for tourism, trade and ongoing investments.

Presentations in Sydney (25/10) and Melbourne (27/10) are geared to offer the best of investment, trade and tourism prospects from Australia into HCMC and vice versa.

More than 100 invitees from the trade, media, airlines, agents and operators attended the conference at the Novotel Darling Harbour in Sydney.

The newly appointed Consul General of Vietnam Mr Hoang Minh Son welcomed the speakers and delegates following a traditional music performance by Ms Ngo Tuyet Mai who played some well-known Vietnam pieces  on the Ly Ngua O and finished off with a well-received version of the Aussie song “Click go the Shears”

Mr Hoang Minh Son spoke about the strong bond between Vietnam and Australia.

“We have been solid partners since 1973 and we want our relationship to continue and grow” he said. “HCMC has some very attractive investment options for foreign countries and we invite investors to check out the potential deals”.

Australian visitation to HCMC is in excess of 325,000 annually against a total of 1 million Aussies who visit the whole of Vietnam.

Tan Son Nhat HCMC’s national and domestic airport boasts 400 flights weekly from 45 airlines. “National carrier,Vietnam Airlines, have been servicing Australia for more than 20 years.” said Sales Executive Adam Rodriguez. We also fly extensively throughout Asia.  We have daily Sydney and Melbourne flights to HCMC and Sydney to Hanoi with the 274 seat Dreamliner.” he said

Vietnam has a population of 94 M with its biggest city HCMC having a total of 10 M

Ms Ngujen Cam Tu (Judy), the head of the overseas marketing division for HCMC department of tourism outlined the tourism opportunities offered by the city including world class MICE opportunities as the city has 51,000 rooms.

Tourism prospects are also in abundance she explained, with tourism waterways, rural, eco, sport, culinary, health (14 thousand doctors and 120 hospitals), shopping, entertainment, festivals and events.  Judy E,
