The Royal Botanic Garden Sydney has brainy, foodie, and outdoorsy fun for kids and families these summer school holidays – and of course festive favourites.

New at the Garden In the lead up to the school holidays, have some brainy fun with Herbarium on Stage: Botanist for a Day on 2 and 9 December.

A free program thanks to the Klorane Botanical Foundation, budding scientists will tour highlights of the Garden including Plants with Bite, and get started on their own herbarium at home! For kids who love the creepy crawlies, book in to Garden Bug Hunt coming in January.

Jump into action with the hands-on cooking and learning experience Kids Kanga Kitchen. Kids will create their very own Kangaroo burger and native infused cupcake while learning about the native flora and fauna significant to Aboriginal culture.

Festive Fun I’m Dreaming of a Green Christmas – Outdoor Theatre is a hilarious Christmas story featuring elves Elfis and Elvin. These two cheeky elves will have children laughing and singing as they make sure that Santa makes it to Australia!

Australia’s largest annual, free Christmas family event Woolworths Carols in the Domain returns for its 36th year on December 22. Aussie legends Thirsty Merc lead huge and talented cast, from Isiah Firebrace to Mickey Mouse, and the Tap Pack.
