Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives Chef’s Shine at the 10th Hotel Asia International Culinary Challenge 2014.

Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives recently participated in the 10th Hotel Asia International Culinary Challenge with the Resort culinary team entering 15 competition categories and were awarded with medals in every entered class. Untitled

Medals included 3 Gold, 6 Silver, 8 Bronze and the Resort also won one of the most sought after awards – The Team Challenge Award for 2014 which involved the preparation and execution of a 3 Course Set Menu in an hour and half.

“Competition was fierce as the Culinary Team were competing against 50 other Resorts which included all of the major International 5 Star Brands with well over 500 participants in one of the regions biggest international culinary events” said Vincent Tan the Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Executive Chef.

Major accolades to name a few included the most “Outstanding Dessert”, “US Potato Fry”, “Three Course Menu”, “First Runner Up for the French Poultry Dish” and “Second Runner up for the Young Chef Award and Dessert category”.

“All awards and certificates are recognized worldwide and I am so proud to say that this is an absolute outstanding result to say the least by the Holiday Inn Resort Culinary Team to enter 15 of the 19 categories and to be awarded in the top 3 of every category entered, demonstrates their passion and commitment in “Being No.1”, said Joseph Della Gatta, General Manager of the Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives “This is a great success not only to the participating chefs but also for the rest of the team that was supporting them. This would not be possible without support of our General Manager Joseph Della Gatta and Executive Assistant Manager Rene Jewell”, said Executive Chef Vincent Tan.

The recognition the Holiday Inn Resort Culinary team received at the 10th Asia Culinary Challenge was outstanding, their participation not only created a healthy competition environment at international standard judging but also offered the team an opportunity to network and exchange ideas, this is what cooking with passion is all about.

The Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Executive Chef, Vincent Tan has expressed his excitement at the fantastic achievements from the recent International Culinary Challenge and the team producing world class Resort Cuisine. He mentioned that the Resort team came a close second in achieving the Best Culinary Establishment – The Alan Palmer Challenge Trophy and was pipped by the slightest of margins.

Chef Vincent said “We are really excited to be putting these winning world class dishes in the Resorts Signature Restaurant – “The Kitchen”, which our guests will be able to taste and appreciate Resort Cuisine – The team are so proud of their efforts and to be able to showcase their award winning dishes”.
