Holiday Inn Resort Vanuatu welcomed more than 60 major travel industry delegates and international media last night (25 August) in a formal showcase as part of Tok Tok Vanuatu 2016.
Tok Tok Vanuatu tradeshow guests visiting from countries including Australia, New Zealand, New Caledonia and China, were greeted by the Holiday Inn Resort Vanuatu team for a private tour of the property, to see the recently reopened resort for themselves.
As part of the tour guests enjoyed unique performances along the way as a representation of some of the 83 islands that make up this South Pacific archipelago.
Performances included the Leweton Cultural Village that showcased its renowned ‘Magical Water Music’ created by the community from Banks Island, as well as a surprise ‘Warrior Attack’ show from the Futuna Fatuana Cultural Group. Songs from the Erakor Childrens Choir sounded throughout the Kids Club while guests watched on in awe. Delicious island ‘kai kai’ created by the Resorts talented chefs was served using local produce including beef and vanilla from Espiritu Santo Island, coffee from Aore Island and cacao from Malekula Island.
A true highlight of the evening for everyone involved was the exclusive show by feature film actors from the movie ‘Tanna’ – Dain Mangau, Lingai Kouwia and Marceline Rofit. Recently nominated by Screen Australia as its contender in the Academy Awards’ foreign-language section, the actors replicated a scene from the movie in the Resorts natural amphitheatre surrounded by tiki torches and guests munching on popcorn.
General Manager of the Holiday Inn Resort Vanuatu, Simon Douthett said: “I’m honoured to welcome our guests to Holiday Inn Resort Vanuatu as part of Tok Tok 2016, which is a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase to our key wholesalers we are truly open for business.”
“Our Resort tour played homage to our amazing destination which offers unique experiences for travellers. We stay honest to the culture to ensure that our guests receive a ‘taste’ of the Vanuatu islands,” added Simon.
“The options are endless when it comes to hosting an event here. Our grounds are lush and expansive and I’m lucky to have a fantastic team of people who strive to ensure that everyone who visits leaves with lasting memories. I think we’ve shown this to our industry tonight.”
Holiday Inn Resort Vanuatu reopened in June 2016 after a major revitalisation and restoration program, nearly 15 months after its closure due to damage inflicted by Tropical Cyclone Pam.
Located just minutes from Port Vila, the resort is a quiet and peaceful haven with exclusive lagoon frontage. The resort’s family-style accommodation and romantic overwater villas reflect the tropical beauty and Melanesian flavour of Vanuatu.
Holiday Inn Resort Vanuatu offers 148 guest rooms, including 10 overwater villas on a private island which is perfect for weddings, couples, families and groups.
