Along with the announcement of an extraordinary lineup of music makers for the 26th Australian Festival of Chamber Music (AFCM) comes the release of a lineup of exclusive holiday packages, perfect for experiencing north Queensland’s wonderful wintersun.
Internationally acclaimed for its musicality, programming, headline artists and stunning location, the 2016 AFCM will star a lineup of 35 artists from all over the world, as well as famed ensembles. Hosted in churches, theatres, galleries and gardens around Townsville, the AFCM attracts music lovers from all over the country and internationally.
It is an opportunity for Townsville and North Queensland to shine, and boasting 300 days of sunshine each year, it’s guaranteed to do just that! Townsville is nestled amongst a stunningly diverse natural environment located on the shores of the Coral Sea, just a stone’s throw from Magnetic Island and a short drive inland to the red sands of the Australian outback. The winter months in Townsville are gloriously warm with average temperatures in the low 20’s. It provides the perfect setting for the most prestigious chamber music event in the Southern Hemisphere.
Festival holiday packages are an ideal way to combine a little fine music with a lot of winter warmth and relaxation. Each package includes preferential seating at 3 Festival concerts, 3 nights’ accommodation at special rates, and fantastic add-on options. Launched in 2013 in partnership with SeaLink Queensland and Australian Holiday Centre, the holiday packages have been incredibly popular, with three options available across four of Townsville’s leading hotels in Quest Townsville, Rydges Southbank, Holiday Inn Townsville and Quest on Eyre.

- Sunset Spectacular, a mid-week music package from Wednesday 3 to Friday 5 August, offering the perfect introduction to chamber music which includes tickets to 3 consecutive concerts in the Ray Golding Sunset Series, Bach by Candlelight 1, All 5’s and 6’s andA Touch of Klezmer.

For those wanting more, additional events can be added to the packages, including the moving Prayer and Dance, or the breathtaking Orpheus Island Concert, a stunning afternoon of enchanting music on a spectacular north Queensland beach.
**Festival goers travelling on their own may also wish to add one of two Festival Long Table Dinners to their diary, with the chance to meet and mingle with other music lovers.
