Holidays Bring Out Our Adventurous Streak

November 20, 2013 Hotel News No Comments Email Email

Holidays have long been considered a time of relaxation and rejuvenation, and while this remains true for many travellers, a new survey carried out by BIG4 Holiday Parks shows that holidays also bring out our adventurous streak.

BIG4 Tweed BillabongMore than 43% of people surveyed said they had put aside fears or long-standing habits to try a new experience on holiday with extreme sports or a new food rating highest.

Among the most popular experiences were adventure sports with more than 51% of people that tried something new on holiday trying their hand at skiing, bungy jumping and snorkelling or other outdoor adventures.

The survey also confirmed we’re a nation of food lovers with culinary delights the top of the list for 47% for those brave enough to try a new experience on holiday. Bush tucker was a favourite for intrepid Aussie diners, though one person said they had their first bircher muesli experience so apparently everyone’s level of new and exciting is different.

Many respondents said that being on holiday gave them a heightened sense of adventure and made them want to branch out from day-to-day food and recreation favourites.

BIG4 Holiday Parks CEO, Ray Schleibs, said that holidays are the perfect time to try something new and create lasting memories that will leave you with a great story to share with workmates when you’re back at the grind, making your holiday buzz last that little bit longer.

“It’s easy to stay in your comfort zone when you get caught up in daily routines.  So when you’re on holiday in a beautiful new location with plenty of spare time, why not challenge yourself? Ray said.

“BIG4 Holiday Parks are in stunning beachfront spots, alpine regions or in the outback and the staff will happily point you in the direction of a local surf school, skydiving operator or mountain biking trail, whatever adventure you’re up for.”

If your holiday style is less outdoor adventure and more gastronomic voyage, BIG4 Holiday Parks are close to renowned wineries, famed seafood capitals and artisan producers so let your taste buds do the exploring and play chef in the parks’ fully equipped camp kitchens or your own self-contained cabin kitchen.
