Surviving a zombie apocalypse and surviving Schoolies can both be tricky propositions – fortunately some of the same rules apply when it comes to playing it safe.
Hollywood is officially coming to Schoolies, with the event’s original and number one operator schoolies.com joining forces with Paramount Pictures to promote upcoming American horror comedy Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse.
The movie’s leading cast has released a very tongue in cheek Definitive Scouts Guide to Surviving Schoolies which can be viewed here on theschoolies.com Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/SchooliesWeek/videos/vb.118778411384/10153758279646385/?type=2&theater
The golden rules are 1. Stay hydrated, 2. Stick together, 3. Don’t let your friends do something they will regret and 4. Always bring protection.
CEO for schoolies.com Matt Lloyd said the message was both good advice and good fun.
“Collaborating with Paramount Pictures on a major project like this shows just how far schoolies.com has come,’’ Mr Lloyd said.
“From humble beginnings almost 30 years ago it is now internationally regarded as a major entertainment event which attracts significant corporate interest,’’ he said.
In another coup for schoolies.com, it was announced in August that Australia’s largest independent dance music label Ministry of Sound would be tied to the Schoolies Nation Beach Festival held in the second week of Schoolies.
Cross promotion with the movie would provide scope for fun zombie themed parties and events during Schoolies.
“We’re really excited about being able to provide schoolies with something that is a whole lot of fun and adds to their overall Schoolies experience with schoolies.com,’’ Mr Lloyd said.
“The movie covers a range of topics that are relevant to 16-19 year olds – the prime schoolies demographic – such as relationships, social media and peer pressure.
“The fact that it all happens in the midst of a zombie apocalypse is just icing on the cake,’’ he joked.
