Home-style Northern Thai cooking on the menu at Centara Mae Sot Hill Resort

Mae Sot, as the main land gateway between Thailand and Myanmar, has a distinctive cuisine of its own that can be sampled at Centara Mae Sot Hill Resort.

On the menu at the resort’s famous Baan Chay Nam restaurant, and also at the River Moei all-day restaurant, are home-cooked Mae Sot style dishes that include spicy minced pork fermented with yellow curry paste and stir-fried; a favourite local dish known as “Three Chicken”, but which is actually dried shrimp with onion, lime, chilli, lemongrass and ginger; fish caught in the River Moei, fried and served hot and spicy with herbs; and Northern-style sausages served with a home recipe chilli paste, crispy pork skin and local vegetables.

Centara Mae Sot Hill Resort is set in the cool and jungled northern mountains along the Thai-Myanmar border, and is a low-rise four-storey property located on the edge of a lake close to the River Moei. Although set in an area of outstanding natural beauty, the resort is only a 10-minute drive from Mae Sot Airport and a picturesque four-hour drive from Chiang Mai.
