Hopeful flight attendant, 13, refuses to leave airport

September 13, 2013 Aviation, Headline News No Comments Email Email

egtmedia59A 13-year-old girl who dresses like a flight attendant is perplexing her adoptive parents by refusing to leave Guangzhou’s airport.

Hong Kong’s South China Morning Post says the girl insists on roaming the airport and is determined to join an airline.

The girl, who the paper named as Luo Siqi, has been haunting Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, the hub of China Southern Airlines, since July.

According to the paper, police noticed her in August, strolling around wearing a China Southern flight attendant uniform and carrying what appeared to be airline documents.

In a strange twist, the paper says that although police detained her and took her to a Guangzhou children’s welfare centre on two occasions, “she insists on returning to the airport”.

“I am truly in love with the sky. Let me go to the airport,” China’s New Express Daily is reported to have told police.

The girl looks older than 13 and her adoptive parents suspect someone has been giving her instructions about how to act. Police (as often) are baffled.

The girl apparently buys her uniforms online. The story reckons that you can buy a passable imitation of a China Southern Airlines uniform for as little as 280 yuan on the big Chinese online shopping site That’s just AUD 50. Sounds like a bargain.
