Hospitality efforts win recognition for holiday parks

Five holiday parks that go the extra mile to create a special experience for their guests are finalists in the 2017 Spirit of Hospitality Award sponsored by AA Traveller.

This award is the sector’s premier award, made to the holiday park which excels in providing an outstanding visitor experience.

“To be a finalist in the award is fantastic achievement and all five finalists have demonstrated consistently high levels of customer satisfaction,” Holiday Parks New Zealand Chief Executive Fergus Brown says.

The award is about businesses that consistently go well beyond what would normally be expected. From towing a caravan from Auckland to the Bay of Plenty, to providing their own food to guests who arrived late, these parks have all gone the extra mile for their guests.

The parks are role models for the holiday park sector which last year provided over 7.7 million guest nights. While staying at holiday parks guests contributed over
$1 billion in direct expenditure to local communities, many of which are in provincial or rural areas.

The five finalists are:

All Seasons Holiday Park Rotorua
Kevin and Tracie Thornborough manage the park which was a finalist in 2013 and 2014

Athenree Hot Springs & Holiday Park
Mike and Sheryl Horne own and operate the park

Himatangi Beach Holiday Park
Reuben and Alice Ebrey own and operate the park

Millers Flat Holiday Park
John and Marise May own and operate the park

Russell TOP 10 Holiday Park
Daniel Tilton and his team won this award in 2016

The winner of the 2017 Spirit of Hospitality Award will be announced at the Holiday Parks Conference in Dunedin in August.
