Luxury travel company Abercrombie & Kent has just released its 2014 Latin America brochure containing 28 stunning itineraries and extensions.
The 2014 collection is an entire portfolio for the private independent traveller seeking luxury travel experiences throughout South America and Mexico.

A&K Managing Director Sujata Raman comments, “South America is one of A&K’s core products, with Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands the strongest selling destination. Sales of luxury journeys in Ecuador are up a very pleasing 125% year on year while Peru and Argentina are also seeing strong sales. The 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil is certain to encourage interest in the region whether it’s attending city games or exploring the country at large. As such we’ve expanded our Brazil portfolio adding a new wildlife adventure to the Pantanal.” Sidebar LBH 250x250

A helpful tool that has been refined further this year is the use of icons to guide the reader on the style of each journey. There are holidays for families, solo travellers, honeymooners and cruise aficionados, as well as those with active content, a food or wine focus or an emphasis on culture. Each page is clearly highlighted with the appropriate icon.

What’s New in Latin America?

Peru, Argentina and Brazil Combination
To satisfy the first time visitor to the continent, A&K has introduced a tri-country combination. Starting in Peru, there’s a focus on the Inca ruins around Cusco and Machu Picchu as well as Lima. The Argentine capital, Buenos Aires, is next stop plus the impressive Iguazu Falls and Brazil’s party capital, Rio de Janeiro. Accommodation is of the highest quality, with iconic hotels featured including Alvear Palace in Buenos Aires, Hotel das Cataratas in Iguazu and Copacabana Palace Hotel, right on the beachfront in Rio. Private sightseeing and A&K service 24/7 is a given.

A&K’s 16-day ‘Wonders of South America’ journey is priced from $11,785 per person.

A Family Journey in Peru
A new family journey in Peru has been introduced. Designed specifically for the enjoyment of the whole family, skilled guides are commandeered to engage adult and child alike, while handpicked family friendly accommodation is a feature. In Lima the catacombs under the San Francisco Monastery and Magic Water Fountains will entertain youngsters, before heading into the Amazon to a jungle lodge in search of caimans and piranha. A hike around Machu Picchu is enthralling and educational and a visit to the AKP-supported Children of the Rainbow is a truly uplifting experience.

A&K’s 10-day ‘Family Adventure in Peru’ is priced from $6,230 per adult and $4,895 per child.

Colonial Cuenca Extension
A short add-on in Ecuador is a new addition highlighting the beautiful colonial city of Cuenca, home of the Panama hat. Cobbled streets, ironwork balconies and beautiful gardens lend this southern city its own distinct charm and guests bed down in luxury boutique hotel Mansion Alcazar, a restored turn of the century residence located in the historic part of town.

A&K’s 3-day ‘Cuenca Extension’ is priced from $755.

Chiloé Island Extension
As featured in A&K’s 2014 Hot List, a stay on the little-known Chilean island of Chiloé is new to A&K’s portfolio. Famous for its unique architecture including World Heritage listed wooden churches and a strong maritime culture, the area is rich in folklore, art and mythology and is home to the beautiful new designer digs, Hotel Refugia.

A&K’s 4-day ‘Chiloé Extension’ is priced from US $1,590 per person.

Pantanal Wetlands Extension
Adding to the selection of Brazilian offerings is a brief sojourn into the country’s vast wetland areas to the south known as the Pantanal. This is an amazing wildlife experience though lesser known than its more famous northern equivalent, the Amazon. Guests stay in an extraordinary eco-lodge on a 53,000 hectare ranch and enjoy wildlife activities including forest walks, caiman spotting, canoeing and nocturnal outings.
A&K’s 4-day ‘Brazilian Pantanal’ journey is priced from $2,865 per person.

A&K Perennial Favourites
remains one of A&K’s most popular destinations, appealing to couples, families and groups of travelling friends alike. Revealing all the colour, culture and history of the country, A&K’s 13-day ‘Mexico Discovered’ itinerary visits the country’s most impressive monuments and archaeological sites, some charming colonial towns and artisan workshops. Priced from $9,965 person.

With cruising continuing its stratospheric rise worldwide, A&K again features Aqua Expeditions with its luxury cruises on the Peruvian Amazon. The company’s two vessels, MV Aqua and MV Aria, operate in the pristine and remote Pacaya Samiria Reserve with expert guiding, luxury cabins and world-class cuisine. A&K’s 4 day ‘Cruise the Amazon’ is priced from US$2,850. Five and eight day cruises also available.

The Galapagos Islands remain one of the continent’s hottest destinations and a cruise is the best way to get around. A&K features Sanctuary Retreats two vessels, the 48 passenger MV Eclipse and the more intimate 16 passenger MC Athala II, both of which offer a range of cruises around the archipelago from three to seven nights with naturalist guides and all the expected creature comforts. A&K’s 11-day ‘Sail the Enchanted Isles’ itinerary is priced from $9,355.

A&K’s partner hotels & resorts
Once again A&K partners with a collection of truly unique and exciting hotels and resorts throughout Latin America including the fanciful Faena Hotel in Buenos Aires, the elegant Llao Llao Hotel & Resort in Bariloche, luxury lodge Awasi Atacama and new sibling Awasi Patagonia plus the inspiring Tierra properties in Atacama and Patagonia. The long relationship with Orient-Express Hotels continues, with Miraflores Park Hotel, Hotel das Cataratas and Copacabana Palace Hotel all featured.
