Hotel Colonnade Coral Gables Announces Completion of $18 Million Renovation and Conversion From The Westin Colonnade, Coral Gables
Hotel Colonnade Coral Gables, formerly The Westin Colonnade, Coral Gables, and the newest addition to Starwood Hotel & Resorts Worldwide’s Tribute Portfolio, is proud to announce the completion of an $18 million renovation, which has repositioned the hotel as an elevated, playful retreat on the famed Miracle Mile in the heart of Coral Gables.
“Hotel Colonnade Coral Gables is a modern yet elegant hotel that caters to spirited travelers, adventure-seekers and work-hard-play-harder road warriors,” said Patricia Davis, vice president of sales, marketing and revenue management of Pivot Hotels and Resorts. “Our promise at Hotel Colonnade Coral Gables is to inject a sense of glamour and adventure into the hotel while honoring the rich history of Coral Gables.”
The 157 guest room property was acquired by Pebblebrook Hotel Trust in late 2014. On the site of The Colonnade Building, erected in the 1920’s by Coral Gables founder George Merrick, the hotel features newly imagined spaces by Dawson Design Associates. From the glamourous event venues to the sleek and modern guest rooms, each space has an unmistakable Latin beat and vibe, inspired by the local destination. Adding to the classic beauty of the design, the existing vaulted ceilings and grand staircase in the lobby are now centered under a dramatic stained glass ‘rosary’ style window and oversized Murano glass chandeliers. The intimate Aragon Café welcomes guests each morning with offerings inspired by Miami’s international culture made with the freshest ingredients sourced from local partners. The newly introduced lobby bar invites guests and locals alike to taste the evening’s signature cocktail or enjoy a bite from the new small plates menu and enjoy an old favorite. A state-of-the-art game room, complete with a pool table, shuffleboard, oversized TVs, and a bar area creates the perfect venue for small groups and weddings or gatherings with family and friends for an afternoon watching the game. Completing the renovation are elegant new sleeping rooms featuring wood floors and contemporary stainless steel pedestal beds, complimented by sleek sectional sofas and intricate bronze and smoked glass desks. Sexy, chic and layered, the guestrooms are elegantly modern and approachably luxurious.
Hotel Colonnade Coral Gables offers hotel guests and Miami locals alike, new and fresh experiential programming throughout the hotel’s renovated spaces, highlighting the hotel’s exciting new persona. The innovative programming will offer something for everyone, spanning across wellness, mixology, informational workshops, history, sports, and more. Programming planned at Hotel Colonnade Coral Gables includes a variety of dancing lessons in the hotel’s rotunda, watch parties in the game room, mixology driven events at the chic lobby bar, historical bike tours of Coral Gables on the hotel’s custom bikes, and interest specific workshops, such as DIY weddings, where guests will be able to channel their inner creative and learn something new. The premier Coral Gables hotel will have a strong focus on the well-being and relaxation, giving Coral Gables a unique approach to wellness that is not currently offered in the neighborhood. Fun and original wellness programming includes a monthly rooftop yoga class, followed by a sunset meditation ritual and tea tasting, and monthly 30 minute Aquacycle classes (read: spinning in the pool while overlooking the city of Coral Gables) paired with a 30 minute matbox pilates classes.
The renovation of the hotel is at the forefront of a larger, neighborhood-wide $21 million streetscape project that will completely reshape the city’s historical Miracle Mile and Giralda Avenue. The result will be wider, walkable sidewalks, additional outdoor dining, and new trees lining the streets, making it more pedestrian friendly and allowing for increased foot traffic. The glamorously re-imagined Hotel Colonnade Coral Gables, which sits on Miracle Mile and one block from Giralda Avenue, is paving the way for the revitalization of the historic neighborhood, injecting new life into downtown Coral Gables.
