Hotel Grand Windsor, MGallery by Sofitel has launched “Vari-Tea“ High Tea in collaboration with Cooke’s Restaurant and Bar, an elegant 5-star boutique hotel in the heart of Auckland.

The Cooke’s signature high tea called Vari-tea, brilliantly combines the classic English pursuits of afternoon tea, cakes and a charming piece of history.

Located in a lower Queen Street premise of  Hotel Grand Windsor, Cooke’s restaurant takes its cue from an Auckland tradition of the British heritage. Circa 1928 Cooke’s restaurant was conceived specifically for local Auckland and visiting guests to take out time for their afternoon tea experience. The restaurant has been converted into an elegant eatery following a design makeover in 2017.

“The afternoon high tea is modern, taking much influence from the yesteryear of this restaurant. Call it a contemporary twist, the food is served on granite slates rather than a round tier and I am excited to be apart of the next step of this boutique hotel offering,”  says GPG Hotels Group Executive Chef Jinu Abraham.

Guests can choose from fifteen loose leaf teas from the exclusive T2 Tealeidoscope signature range to be served in fine bone china, continuing tradition of tea presentation that is a part of the boutique hotel rooms in Grand Windsor. For $64 per personthe deliciously decadent Mumm cordon bleu rouge Champagne or Huia blanc de blanc sparkling wine ($59 per person) will add a bit of sparkle to the afternoon tea.

Cooke’s brings its classics back of buttermilk scones with strawberry and rose preserve, dainties such as elderflower profiterole, marzipan cupcake with citrus sour cream, sandwiches of chicken and walnut, ham and cheese, and classic egg mayo.

High tea is available daily with 24hours notice for bookings. Priced from $45 per person. For reservations, guests can call +64 (9) 309 9979 or email cookes@hotelgrandwindsor.com.
