The first ever Hotel Career Expo takes place in Sydney next week (Monday 16th May), showing how students, graduates and young professionals can start their careers in Australia’s $47.5 billion tourism and accommodation industry.
There will be numerous broadcast and interview opportunities on the day including:
- CEO of Tourism Accommodation Australia (TAA), Carol Giuseppi, who has organised the Hotel Career Expo, has rallied the hotel industry to come together to do something to prevent a skills shortage in the future, as predicted by the Federal Government.
- The top General Managers from Sydney’s leading hotels including the Shangri-La Hotel Sydney, Park Hyatt Sydney, The Star, Four Seasons and many more, will meet with ambitious youths, from high schools, colleges and universities. This will allow attendees to hear firsthand what it takes to work in the tough, but rewarding tourism industry and the pathways available.
In addition, young professionals, who are already making an impression in the hotel industry will be available for interview, including:
- Shangri La Hotel Sydney’s only female shift engineer – Aditi Sood is available for interview and can give insight into the professional career as an engineer at a hotel and what it’s like to work in a male dominated industry.
- Park Hyatt Sydney’s ‘Celebrity Liaison’ – Daniel Gerritse, Associate Director of Sales, who navigates the stays of the A-list who stay in Sydney and has some interesting tales, in addition to maintaining the entertainment and wholesale markets for the hotel.
