Staying in a corporate hotel and I am not knocking them, can be a great experience, but many in which I have stayed, could be anywhere in the world. I like individuality and being different though and without doubt, staying in TRYP Fortitude Valley Hotel, Brisbane, is definitely different and if you are visiting Brisbane, I urge you to give it a try!  You will not regret it!

Boutique, contemporary and modern, funky and even “edgy”, with vibrant colours everywhere, but laden with history,  I think that staying at TRYP Fortitude Valley Hotel, Brisbane is really a statement of who you are, breaking with the conventional, with TRYP Fortitude Valley Hotel, Brisbane, which is part of Wyndham, described as Brisbane’s only street art hotel … yes, I did say street art hotel.

Even when you pull up outside, the massive mural of a face adorning the façade of the hotel is only a small insight into what will be revealed once you enter, with TRYP Fortitude Valley Hotel, Brisbane once the clubhouse of the Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes, the Brisbane chapter of what is described as an “international and mysterious secret society”, with this recognised with a plaque in the lobby and yes, the head of water buffalo!

When the building was no longer a “watering hole” for the water buffaloes, it declined, becoming a home for street artists and graffiti specialists from all over Brisbane and further afield, with the subsequent skilful restoration having not only allowed many of these amazing pieces of street art to remain, but very excitingly, new ones were commissioned, including by world-acclaimed artists Magee, Numskull, Rone and Beastman, in absolute contrast to the 150 year old restored timber flooring and rough hewn bricks with paint still attached from the building’s previous life.

Most hotels call their rooms, rooms or suites, but at TRYP Fortitude Valley Hotel, Brisbane, you will find “pads”, with a choice of five different pads, including king inside spa and king outside with a private spa on the balcony, plus twin, queen and king pads.  All pads provide complimentary Wi-Fi [something some other hotels need to learn from!], iPod docking station and an interactive 40” LSP TV with movies on demand, luxury amenities, a very cleverly stocked mini bar … and best of all for me, an easy to use, no complicated instructions coffee pod machine, that makes excellent coffee.  Plus, guests there is an onsite gym, free access to the Valley Pool, which is just down the road and parking at a fee.

Chur, the restaurant is open for breakfast and all day right through to dinner, but like most other things at TRYP Fortitude Valley Hotel, Brisbane, Chur is different.  So, do not expect a standard hotel restaurant, with Chur rather reminiscent of an American diner, offering superb burgers and an eclectic menu and the very best milk shakes, with awesome breakfast choices, plus a great selection of beers, wines and much more.  For those much needed sundowners after a busy day at work or sightseeing in Brisbane, the very cool roof top bar UP on Constance, is a great place to wind down, with great city views.  UP on Constance has also become a very popular after work and weekend venue for the upwardly mobile residents of increasingly popular and trendy Fortitude Valley and it is a great place to meet with colleagues after work.

While TRYP Fortitude Valley Hotel, Brisbane, is not located in the heart of Brisbane’s CBD, it is very close, in the heart of Fortitude Valley or “the Valley” to locals and a very short walk or Uber ride from the CBD,  so very convenient, with also heaps of things to do in the Valley – day or night!

I think it is great that the owners of TRYP Fortitude Valley Hotel, Brisbane and operators Wyndham have given what is clearly significant thought to this amazing property, making a real difference, creating a location so very different to the run of the mill.  TRYP Fortitude Valley Hotel, Brisbane is definitely not just the same old, same old hotel, but one that is loudly and colourfully different and greatly appreciated by the guests that I spoke with that were staying there.

Finally, the staff at TRYP Fortitude Valley Hotel, Brisbane, live the TRYP brand, they are superb, all happy and smiling, with nothing genuinely too much trouble and they are clearly proud of this innovative and different hotel.

So, we can all stay in hotels that may be very good and often sumptuous and they are often great, but many are not very memorable, while a stay in TRYP Fortitude Valley Hotel, Brisbane for business or leisure, without doubt, will always be very memorable.  Give it a try!
