Hotels.com partner with Tourism and Events Queensland to explore the Great Barrier Reef with its award-winning mobile app

Leading accommodation website Hotels.com® today announced a partnership withTourism and Events Queensland to showcase Queensland’s iconic gem – The Great Barrier Reef.

Debuting in a deep sea diving adventure video which goes live today, Ben Southall – winner of Queensland’s popular “The Best Job in the World” competition – along with fellow diver, Gemma Bedlington, explore the depths of the Reef while putting Hotels.com’s mobile booking app to the test.

Highlighting the ease of use of Hotels.com’s popular mobile booking app, Ben books a room on the Hotels.com app while in the middle of the ocean, exploring one of the Seven Wonders of the Natural World.

Following its launch in 2011, the Hotels.com app is now available for iPhone, Android, iPad, Windows Phone 7 and Windows 8 and has achieved more than 25 million downloads. Users can manage their Welcome Rewards™ accounts, access up to 20,000 last-minute hotel deals based on their search and current location, read seven million traveler reviews,  as well as get quick and easy access to upcoming reservations, thanks to a contextual home page, which changes based on the user.

Hotels.com and Tourism and Events Queensland are also hosting a Twitter contest via @hotelsdotcom and #HotelsDownUnder to send one lucky US resident and a companion to Queensland, Australia, to tour the Great Barrier Reef. The winner will receive roundtrip airfare for two, two-night hotel stays at the Pullman Port Douglas Sea Temple Resort and Spa and the Green Island Resort, and access to the region’s top excursions, including a voucher for two to experience a guided day trip in the Daintree Rainforest.
