Creative Ideas at the Radical Innovation Competition to Change the Travel Industry

Most travellers always look for things to make their trip more entertaining and comfortable. Instead of staying at a regular hotel and using common transportation options, a lot of people look for a way to upgrade their trip and make it unique.

So instead of staying at a standard hotel, people opt for themed hotels with intriguing concepts. Instead of riding any regular train, they look for something innovative and cool that captures their attention.

The travel and hospitality industries always strive to provide travellers with an exhilarating experience, looking for the most original ideas that can give every trip a boost. Many of those ideas are born at one of the most inspired gatherings around the globe: the Radical Innovation competition.

When designers, architects, hoteliers, and even students pitch their ideas for improving both travel and hospitality, magical things can happen. Those talented individuals draw their inspiration from the most unpredictable places, bringing to life ideas that have the potential to change the face of the travelling industry.

So take a moment, stop everything you’re doing – whether you’re reading about Australian online casinos at casinoproper.com or binging on Netflix shows – and find out what new and exciting things the Radical Innovation participants brought to the table this year!

Top 3 Ideas – The 13th Annual Radical Innovation Competition

Radical Innovation began accepting pitches months ago, but earlier this month, the judges picked three finalists who will compete for the big prize on October 16th: Copper Carry, Danny Foster & Architecture, and SB architects.

Those three firms managed to come up with ideas that a group of experts deemed the most promising, based on creativity, design, and the potential impact those projects might have.

Let’s take a closer look at the top three ideas the competition produced this year:

  1. Connectic by Copper Carry – There are plenty of underutilized spaces in every city, and with the rapid population growth, there’s also a growing need to make the most of every square inch. With the use of modular units, Connectic offers a way to build pop-up hotels in urban locations where there isn’t much room to spare. The modular construction technique can adapt to various environments, connecting neglected locations – such as parking lots and forgotten pocket parks – to existing hotels. The size of those units can be modified according to the location, and all materials can be reused after the structure is disassembled.
  2. Volumetric High-Rise Modular Hotel by Danny Forster & Architecture Modular construction is a hot trend these days, which is why it is being used in this project as well. The goal of the project was to make the designing process easier and more precise, which is why Danny Foster & Architecture came up with the idea to use VR tech to allow clients, contractors, and architects to witness the building process firsthand – without being present at the building site. The innovative tech is designed to reduce the differences between construction plans and the final product, allowing all the relevant parties to take part in the construction even form the other side of the globe.
  3. Infinite Explorer by SB Architects – Abandoned passenger rail lines can be found all over the US, a reminder of the country’s past. Those rail lines cross some of the most breathtaking locations in America, and it’s a shame to leave the existing infrastructure unused. The infinite Explorer is set to utilize the forgotten rail lines, and it is designed to provide people with a chance to rediscover the country in a new way and have an immersive experience. According to the plans, the train will stop at various locations, allowing the passengers to explore their surroundings and set out on a once-in-a-lifetime adventure.

In Conclusion

Three well-deserving projects reached the final stage of the competition, and now it is only a matter of time till you will be able to see at least one of them become a part of our travelling culture. Which project excites you the most?
