dwp ( created the interiors for LEED Platinum certified HSBC Green Library, a charitable project located in Bangkok, Thailand, in association with HSBC and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration.

image002Award-winning international architecture and interior design firm dwp | design worldwide partnership created the interiors for the HSBC-initiated flagship development, known as ‘The Green Library Project’, in collaboration with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and other leading organisations, with the aim of providing sustainable solutions, to combat the causes of climate change.

The HSBC Green Library has now received official LEED Platinum Community Care certification. The Green Library is an energy-efficient public library, which serves as a knowledge centre for the community, and as an educational model that demonstrates green building principles and practices.

The library was specially designed and constructed according to LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) guidelines, issued by the USGB (US Green Building Council). LEED is an internationally recognised accreditation system, which scores buildings according to their compliance to environmental standards. The project is Asia’s first public library accredited with a LEED Platinum Certification – the highest level of the green building standard.

dwp partnered with HSBC, to design and fit-out the 400sqm library, set over a total surrounding area of 1,700sqm. The library was developed and refurbished, from a vacant building, which led to a significant improvement of both the interior and exterior. The principles of green buildings, close to the heart of dwp, were applied to all aspects of the design, to ensure energy conservation and an overall environmentally friendly strategy. Over 9,000 households around the community can benefit from this library, as it is their knowledge centre and the prototype for green building in and around the area, where the public can learn about energy and environmental conservation.
