HSBC Insurance is launching the “HSBC Insurance Hour” initiative for the very first time to local primary schools and the wider community this summer. The initiative is in collaboration with the Hong Kong Golf Association (HKGA), with a mission to promote the sports to the wider community in Hong Kong and inspire more local golf talents.

HSBC has been a keen driver in promoting golf through junior development and through “HSBC Hour” to reach the wider public. HSBC Insurance fully supports the group initiative and presents the  “HSBC Insurance Hour” this year. The “HSBC Insurance Hour” initiative will start from 19 June, whereby more than 1,000 students from 15 primary schools are going to experience the fun ShortGolf training throughout the HSBC Golf for Schools week. For those who want to get a taste of the game of golf, two one-hour free golf coaching sessions will be open to the public at Whitehead Golf Club Driving Range on 23 June. Participants aged 6 years old or above will have the opportunity to learn the skills and techniques required for the game with the help of professional coaches. Online and telephone registrations for the public session can be made from next Monday (11 June) on a first-come-first-served basis. Don’t miss your chance to enjoy the fun of golf!

“HSBC Insurance is delighted to make golf more accessible to everyone by launching the “HSBC Insurance Hour”, as we believe that it is a game for anyone irrespective of background and age,” says Edward Moncreiffe, CEO Hong Kong of HSBC Insurance. “Hong Kong is the spiritual home where HSBC Insurance grows. We are excited to help grow the sport and nurture local talent in our home. The initiative not only offers the opportunity to more than 1,000 primary school students to try the sport for the first time, but will also bring the excitement of the game to the wider local community ─  supporting the growth of the sport at all levels and build a healthy community.”

The 5-day “HSBC Insurance Hour” will commence with the HSBC Golf For Schools Week, offering the interesting ShortGolf training to 1,000 students from 15 schools across 4 days at Yan Oi Tong Tin Ka Ping Primary School. Aside from the professional golf coaches, the Junior Squad team players will also join to offer their support. This also serves the purpose of extending the current network to more schools in the Tseung Kwan O district. ShortGolf training is a unique “first touch” training system which makes it fun and easy to teach and learn golf at school, which is also part of the HSBC Golf For Schools initiative under the HSBC-sponsored Hong Kong Junior Golf Programme launched in 2015.

HSBC Hong Kong Junior Golf Programme offers a structured pathway for children to learn golf and kick off their journey in the world of golf. The programme includes the HSBC Golf For Schools initiative which introduces primary school students to basic golf skills through ShortGolf, Golf Fun Days, and monthly golf clinics. Shortlisted participants will progress to the real golf clinic and potentially the HSBC Junior Development Programme that offers professional training and opportunities to represent Hong Kong on the regional and international stage.
