HSBC Kicks Off Its Sevens Weekend With The First Ever HSBC Community Day

HSBC kicked off its Sevens weekend with its first ever HSBC Community Day, a partnership between HSBC and the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals (TWGHs) intended to bring rugby and a sense of community to the Hong Kong public.

The Honourable Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, Chief Secretary for Administration, The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, officiated at the opening ceremony of the HSBC Community Day together with Peter Wong, Deputy Chairman and Chief Executive, The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited, Diana Cesar, Chief Executive, Hong Kong, HSBC, Vinci Wong, Chairman of TWGHs and Philip Ma, the 4th Vice-Chairman cum Chairman of the Community Services Committee of TWGHs. Stephanie Au, Hong Kong’s Olympic swimmer took on the role as local ambassador for the day, lending her support to the cause and joined in the coaching clinic with students from TWGHs Wong See Sum Primary School, followed by a meet-and-greet session with visitors to the HSBC Community Day.

From 6 to 8 April, the HSBC Sevens Village will continue to provide free HSBC Try Rugby coaching clinics to the public, offering opportunites for kids from aged 5 to 12 to experience rugby. There will be live screenings of the Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens, sport challenges and HSBC Try Rugby coaching clinics at the HSBC Try Rugby Zone, as well as face painting and meeting with Wai Bei, the Hong Kong rugby team mascot. There is something for everyone to enjoy during the Sevens weekend and chances to win some fantastic prizes.

For those who want to get into the spirit of the rugby game and lively atmosphere, there will be live entertainment from exciting bands such as The Rituals as well as electrifying new DJ’s to entertain the crowd. There will also be appearances from HSBC Sevens global ambassadors and tournament regulars, Ben Ryan, Brian O’Driscoll, George Gregan and Michael Cheika who will be spending time in the HSBC Sevens Village over the weekend giving fans the opportunity to catch a glimpse or even meet with their idols

In order to keep fueling the energy and excitement of the day, there will be up to five food vendors in the Village this year, ranging from Calimex, Warung, Golden Pig, Chips Republic and The Hong Kong Warhawks. HSBC Premier Customers will also have the exclusive opportunity to redeem the HSBC “Breakfast on Us” offer for themselves and a companion when they present their HSBC Premier ATMs/credit card at Golden Pig from 8.00 am on 7 April (Saturday) and 8.30 am on 8 April (Sunday) while stocks last.
