hawaiitourismThe Hawaii Tourism Authority (HTA), the state’s tourism agency, has released a request for qualifications (RFQ) to seek a project director for the Hawaii Business Ambassadors Elele Program.

The HTA invites submittals from qualified firms that have proven expertise in the Meetings, Conventions and Incentives (MCI) industry in Hawaii and significant connections in the community to facilitate partnerships with key individuals and organizations.

The goal of the Elele Program is to leverage existing business relationships between members of local organizations (Ambassadors) and their national/international headquarters to develop and create new local, national, and international business relationships that can impact future business in MCI. With the support of the contractor and the Meet Hawaii team, volunteer Ambassadors act as liaisons between local organizations and the decision makers of their national/international counterparts to lobby for the Hawaiian Islands as an MCI destination.

The HTA will select the firm determined to be the most qualified to efficiently manage and maximize the impact of the Elele Program, taking into consideration multiple factors including applicant qualifications and experience, and sales and marketing approach, in accordance with the evaluation criteria set forth in the RFQ.

The new contract to be awarded under this RFQ will replace an existing contract that ends on Dec. 31, 2013. The HTA intends to award a contract for this RFQ in Dec. 2013. The period of performance under the new contract runs for two years from Jan. 1, 2014 through Dec. 31, 2015.

The written proposals are due no later than Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013 at 4:30 p.m., HAST (Hawaii-Aleutian Standard Time) and in the manner described in the RFQ.
