A celebrated stalwart in the Chinese fine dining scene for over two decades, Orchard Hotel Singapore’s signature restaurant Hua Ting was awarded Gold in The Straits Times and Lianhe Zaobao’s Best Asian Restaurants Awards at the Gala Reception on 1 April 2019.

Rising from last year’s Silver category, Hua Ting Restaurant joins the ranks of three other Gold award recipients who represent the best in Asian gastronomy.

“My team and I are thrilled to receive this prestigious award and we are grateful for all the support we have received from our clients and guests through the years,” said Hua Ting Restaurant’s master chef Chung Lap Fai. “This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication my team and I have put into bringing exceptional dining experiences to our esteemed guests in a modern setting.”

Helmed by a stellar panel of judges that include The Straits Times’ acclaimed food critics Tan Hsueh Yun and Wong Ah Yoke, the Best Asian Restaurant awards aims to showcase Singapore’s leading Asian restaurants. The Best Asian Restaurant Awards is part of a year-long gourmet extravaganza, the Asian Masters—now in its seventh edition—which celebrates Asian gastronomy with an exquisite lineup of dining experiences presented by Singapore’s renowned culinary stars.

This is not the first time that Hua Ting Restaurant has been recognised for their culinary excellence. Over the years, Hua Ting Restaurant has garnered numerous accolades including winning Silver in Best Restaurants Awards 2018, Best Dinner Experience (Asian) in G Restaurant Awards 2018 by The Peak Selections: Gourmet and Travel and the prestigious Asian Restaurant of the Year at the World Gourmet Summit Awards of Excellence 2014.

Earlier this year, the hotel also revamped two of its longstanding food and beverage concepts as part of an overall enhancement programme. Local dining icon The Orchard Cafe renewed its legacy with a vibrant new style and Signature Class buffet showcasing heritage-inspired creations and chef-curated classic, while Bar Intermezzo inherited an air of sophistication with modern botanical-influenced interiors, live music and contemporary cocktails that toast to Orchard Road’s past.
