Huka Lodge, New Zealand’s original luxury lodge, has been recognized in the 2017 Condé Nast Traveller Magazine Readers’ Travel Awards as the Favourite Overseas Holiday Hotel in Australasia and the South Pacific.

Presented at an awards ceremony in London by this respected Condé Nast publication, which prides itself on “Truth in Travel”, the award was voted for by its huge global readership, using a rigorous rating system to determine the ‘best of the best’ of the world’s travel brands and experiences, including hotels, countries, cities, islands, ski resorts, airlines and cruise lines.

The magazine cited Huka Lodge’s incredible location on the banks of the Waikato River as one of its main attractions. It was here that the Lodge was founded almost 100 years ago as a modest fishing camp by Irishman Alan Pye, and since then has gone on to welcome members of the world’s Royal families, movie stars, celebrities, statesmen and leaders of industry.

Most importantly, it continues to welcome all guests with the same level of outstanding service, beautiful interiors and gourmet cuisine that readers of CN Traveller Magazine have recognised with this special award, which comes as Huka Lodge is poised to welcome its half a millionth guest over the coming months.

Huka Lodge is part of The Huka Retreats, which also comprises sister properties Dolphin Island, a private island in Fiji for the exclusive use of up to eight guests, and Grande Provence, a heritage wine estate in Franschhoek, South Africa.
