Hurtigruten offer voyages that go beyond a conventional cruising experience, providing closer encounters and expertise on journeys that will exceed your expectations.

Hurtigruten have revamped its coastal product to include new expedition style voyages and a la carte dining, as well as a number of new excursions & private transfer options.

Highlights include:

  • A more adventurous way to sample Norway’s rugged coastline – From January 2016, 3 of Hurtigruten’s coastal ships (MS Nordnorge, MS Nordkapp and MS Nordlys) will offer all the activities and services you would expect on a Hurtigruten voyage but with an expedition team on-board, who will be offering a series of hikes* in selected ports as well as daily lectures about flora and fauna, fishing traditions, polar & Viking history as well as geology, glaciology and climate.
  • Sample local specialities with a new a la carte dining option – implemented on nine of the coastal ships, most voyages are based on half or full-board, but for a small supplement, guests can upgrade to a more intimate dining area and a la carte menu. With locally sourced ingredients like cod, scallops, crayfish & langoustine, reindeer, tender sirloin of beef and cloudberries, the menus will change with the season and there will be options to suit every taste. The a la carte option is only bookable on-board with supplements from approximately £16. It is not currently available on MS Lofoten or MS Vesterålen.
  • Clearer cabin choices – making it simpler for guests to choose accommodation that suits their needs. Guests booking a suite will also now get wine included with dinner and private transfers (Bergen only) as well as an upgraded amenity kit. Those booking a superior cabin can also arrange private transfers, but at an additional cost.

Between Nov 2016 and Mar 2017 Hurtigruten will have two ships offering in-depth expeditions to Antarctica, making them the largest and most diverse provider of active travels to and in the Deep South.  The MS Fram has sailed these remote waters for many years, and now MS Midnatsol will do the same. While MS Fram embarks from Ushuaia, MS Midnatsol will take its guests to Antarctica via the Chilean fjords and Cape Horn. Both routes offer mind-blowing experiences.

So get ready to explore… no matter what ship you choose to sail with.

If you’re up for it, you can take part in our extensive excursion program, ranging from landings in Polarcirkel boats, kayaking, hiking or snowshoeing. There’s even the chance to sleep out on deck under the polar stars or in a tent on mainland Antarctica.
