The I LOVE NY POD, a traveling information and activity booth, will stop at a number of events and tourist attractions this fall to promote tourism statewide.

The fall schedule kicks off today with the I LOVE NY POD’s appearance at the Empire State Plaza 50th Anniversary from 12 – 8pm.  Pod visitors will discover all there is to love about New York, including world-class destinations, exciting tourist attractions, and an interactive look at the eleven diverse regions that make up the Empire State. Visitors are also encouraged to take part in booth contests and games, and plan their next getaway with guidance from travel experts and destination brochures.

“We introduced the POD last summer and people raved about it,” said Gavin Landry, Executive Director of Empire State Development’s Division of Tourism/ I LOVE NEW YORK.  “This year, we’ve added even more interactive features, like the chance to take a picture at destinations around the state using a green screen and the touch screen itinerary builder. Of course, we’ll continue to offer prizes for our trivia contests too. All in all, the POD is a great way to learn about New York State and its diverse travel opportunities, and best of all, it’s fun!”

Visitors will have one-on-one access to travel experts for recommendations on where to visit and events to attend based on their interests, along with brochures and other literature available at the Pod. Plus, technophiles will enjoy using the touch screen itinerary builder app to create curated adventures and routes based on specific interests. Large event calendars will also be posted, making it easy to plan future trips around festivals and other state happenings.

In addition, the Pod features New York trivia contests with a chance to earn promotional giveaways and a green screen to picture oneself in an alluring New York State locale — literally. Visitors can have a photo taken in front of a green screen with one of the New York State backgrounds. There is also an opportunity to have the photo emailed to share with friends and family.
