Adelaide’s The Elephant British Pub (formally known as The Elephant & Wheelbarrow) has been renovated to improve accessibility and space, allowing the popular pub to host more patrons, host DJs and bring additional live music to the heart of the city.
The pub’s liquor licence has been amended to allow it to host DJs, adding to existing entertainment which includes bands and live sports. As part of this increased entertainment offering, the pub has launched a 90’s music night every Friday. As always, there is free entry.
Both its upstairs and downstairs bars have been upgraded to improve accessibility and space, while capacity upstairs has increased from 195 to 300 people. The two bars are now separate, minimising noise filtration and meaning shows and other functions can be held on both floors simultaneously. The upstairs bar is now better equipped to cater for private functions, including show, corporate events and seminars for local businesses and other organisations.
Other improvements include a new downstairs heating and cooling system, a wider staircase for better access and new toilets located in the downstairs bar.
William Taylor, General Manager of The Elephant, said he was thrilled to be able to provide patrons and the city with a revamped venue for listening to live music and having a drink and bite to eat with friends.
“These changes will enable more people to enjoy The Elly than ever before.”
