Over the next 48 hours Australians will be will be walking, swimming, kayaking and traversing our nation’s waterways.
Beaches, inland rivers, estuaries and anything water related will be included and we will even count back yard pools!
Pulling together to raise money for 12 amazing charities, we are aiming to cover the distance of the coastline of Australia (52,000 kms) with our combined efforts.
Ambassador Liesl Tesch, Gold Medalist Paralympic Sailor said, “I just love the concept of Waterline Challenge, and am putting my heart into it and encouraging all Australians to TEAM UP for such a great event”.
Brain child of three times cancer survivor Julian Day, the Waterline Challenge is his innovative way of giving back.
We are also raising funds for grants to improve water quality, marine conservation and environmental projects.
We might be stretching our luck a little this year, as we are brand NEW but will be giving it our best shot!
This is a very Australian event and a great way for people to raise money for a charity of their choice including Surf Life Saving Australia, Starlight Children’s Foundation and Aim for the Stars.
Our Ambassadors including Layne Beachley, Liesl Tesch, Gary Ella and Guy Leach will be creating their own teams around the country and several will be joining us for the launch event.
The Waterline Challenge is also proud to have two key Patrons: The Hon. Wendy Baden-Powell, granddaughter of Sir Robert Baden-Powell and John Alexander AO MP, Tennis Great and member for Bennelong.
