IHG Holds “Celebrate Service” Week to Thank Colleagues

For a whole week, work was a place of celebration and appreciation for employees in IHG hotels across the world. InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) held its annual “Celebrate Service” week from 9 to 13 June 2014 to thank all colleagues for their service and hard work.

IMG_1599“Celebrate Service” week was created five years ago to acknowledge that the success of IHG’s brands and hotels is a direct result of the quality of service front-line teams deliver. As part of the week-long celebrations, IHG employees from corporate offices and hotels around the world participated in various activities including a dragon-boat race, an All Star Football competition, an Amazing Race/BBQ street food fiesta and a wellness day with Zumba dancing.

Clarence Tan, Chief Operating Officer, South East Asia and Resorts, IHG said, “At IHG, our brands represent our promise to our guests and it is our people who deliver that promise and bring each brand to life. We often don’t take enough time out to say ‘thank you’ to the people who work tirelessly to deliver great experiences to the guests that walk through our doors, so this is our way of appreciating our colleagues on a week when we make it all about them. This is the fifth year we are holding our ‘Celebrate Service’ week and we are pleased to be able to take the chance to thank our colleagues and have some fun along the way.”

The week of celebration kicked off with a day of sports at the IHG Philippines Mini Olympics at Holiday Inn Clark, Philippines and an All Star Football competition at Crowne Plaza Bangkok Lumpini Park in Bangkok, Thailand. Throughout the week, employees in Bangkok got to know each other better through Zumba dancing sessions, a Karaoke competition, movie marathon and a flower and cake decorating contest while in the Philippines, employees indulged in salon services, a street food fiesta and ended the week off with an outdoor bazaar and cocktails.

IHG has 49 hotels open across four brands in South East Asia: InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express; and another 48 hotels due to open in the next three to five years.
