the international exhibition for meetings, incentives, conferences and other events, which will be taking place between 19 and 21 April 2016 – is the ideal platform for Messe Frankfurt to showcase its exhibition grounds and the wide range of services that it provides there.
As in previous years, the Group will be presenting itself as part of the German joint stand organised by GCB German Convention Bureau e.V. (Hall 8, Stand Frankfurt Rhein-Main, F110).
For its customers, Messe Frankfurt is more than just a venue operator. As Uwe Behm, Member of the Executive Board of Messe Frankfurt, emphasises: “We promise to provide our customers with everything they need to help their events run smoothly”. On the one hand, this promise is founded on a wide variety of services, ranging from infrastructure and security to logistics and food services. On the other, the Frankfurt exhibition grounds, with its unmistakable architecture and highly functional halls and conference facilities, is the ideal location for all kinds of event formats.
Located at the heart of financial and business centre Frankfurt, the exhibition grounds are among the largest and most modern worldwide. The 980,000 m² of total floor area on the exhibition grounds is large enough to house 90 full-size football pitches, while the outdoor exhibition area offers 96,000 m² of free space that can also be used. The new Hall 12 is currently being built in the western section of the exhibition grounds and is scheduled to go into operation in autumn 2018. Security is of the utmost importance for Messe Frankfurt. In 2014, Messe Frankfurt set up an Operation & Security Center, a central control room for all security-related partners and service providers under one roof – the first of its kind in the trade fair sector.
Frankfurt and the Rhine-Main region promise an ideal environment for international events. As well as first-class infrastructure and excellent transport connections to destinations all over the world, trade fair guests in Frankfurt can choose from some 8,000 hotel rooms within walking distance of the exhibition grounds. Uwe Behm: “This proximity means that the many thousands of exhibitors and visitors can reach our exhibition grounds quickly and easily.”
Since 1949, Messe Frankfurt has been an established partner for a wide range of guest events at its Frankfurt base. Uwe Behm: “This is a key success factor for Frankfurt as a location for trade fairs. Our aim is to create value together with our customers and to provide the right set-up for every idea.” Accordingly, Fairconstruction – Messe Frankfurt’s trade fair construction firm – is responsible for the overall hall concept at IMEX as well as designing the lounges and other special areas. Food at the German stand will be provided by sustainable caterer Accente Gastronomie Service GmbH, a subsidiary of Messe Frankfurt.
Diversity of topics at guest events
The wide range of areas covered reflects the sheer variety of Messe Frankfurt’s guest fair portfolio and, in turn, the different requirements that exist. Leading international brand events such as the Frankfurt Book Fair, the International Motor Show Cars (IAA Cars) and Achema have been based in Frankfurt for decades. The portfolio also includes international UBM EMEA events such as CPHI Worldwide, Food Ingredients Europe and Health Ingredients Europe. Further guest events based on Messe Frankfurt’s exhibition grounds include Optatec, FI-Forum, Cloud Expo Europe and Cosmetica Frankfurt. This year, IMEX – the leading networking platform in the international MICE sector – is being held in Frankfurt for the 14th time in a row.
Top marks for Messe Frankfurt’s conference room facilities
With their broad spectrum of national and international events, the Congress Center and Kap Europa are instrumental in maintaining the attractiveness of the Rhine-Main region as a centre for congresses and conventions, raising its profile in the international rankings. Regular customer surveys show that recommendation rates for Messe Frankfurt’s conference and congress facilities are virtually 100 percent. Top marks were awarded for both the facilities and the high event quality. Uwe Behm: “In the Congress Center and Kap Europa, we have two excellent congress buildings that are held in very high esteem by our customers.” Last year, both congress buildings were also singled out by the German Design Council for the German Design Award. Kap Europa fulfils the highest standards of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). In congress year 2015, a total of 148 events were held on the Frankfurt exhibition grounds and in the neighbouring Kap Europa, playing host to some 125,500 participants in total.
The congress and conference business is continuing its dynamic growth in the current financial year. Some 120 events have been contractually arranged so far, including the annual convention of the Manila-based Asian Development Bank (ADB). Held in early May, this four-day event expects over 3,000 participants together with government representatives from the 67 member states and further important political representatives. Under the heading “connecting communities – reinvent standardization”, the 80th General Meeting of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) will be held in Frankfurt for the first time in October, having taken place in New Delhi, Tokyo and Minsk. Nine high-calibre medical congresses are also on the agenda. These include the 42nd Annual Convention of the Association for Neonatology and Paediatric Intensive Care (GNPI) and the 67th Annual Convention of the German Neurosurgical Society (DGNC) in June and the 44th Congress of the German Rheumatology Society (DGRh) in September.
A historically significant venue for all major events is the Festhalle, an impressive location for major presentations at international trade fairs and a unique event location for concerts, balls, conferences and conventions. Together with the Festhalle, the Congress Centre, the Forum and the adjacent exhibition halls, Messe Frankfurt’s exhibition grounds offer a wide range of areas and facilities that meet international standards and all kinds of requirements.
