A3C6E3FD-6AD5-4676-AD3A-ACAA104FDEC6MTA – Mobile Travel Agents managing directors, Roy and Karen Merricks have announced an impressive line-up of keynote speakers for the ‘MTA – more than expected’ themed national conference taking place in Canberra from 11-13 October.

Australian Federation of Travel Agents CEO, Jayson Westbury, MTA brand ambassador Jessica Watson and creative engagement expert and ABC TV The Gruen Transfer’ regular, Dan Gregory are all confirmed for the event.

Networking Strategist Robyn Henderson and the founder and creative director of award winning digital and communications agency Guerrilla, Eden Shirley will also present.

The conference also marks the formal introduction of new MTA CEO, Don Beattie who joined the company in early September.

More than 180 attendees are confirmed, the largest number in the company’s 13 year history and the first to be held outside of Queensland.

A busy schedule of business and networking sessions aside, conference high spots include an official opening ceremony in the James O’Fairfax Theatre in the National Gallery of Australia, a cocktail party in the gallery’s Sculpture Gardens sponsored by Sabre Pacific and a working lunch in the Hyatt Hotel Canberra sponsored by Etihad Airways.

A Gala Dinner in the Anzac Hall of the Australian War Memorial sponsored by Virgin Australia is expected to be the major highlight of the weekend with over 180 in attendance.

In a welcoming letter to conference delegates, Roy and Karen Merricks said with the company having grown in 13 ½ years to more than 350 agents and staff spread across all states of Australia, Canberra was their personal choice for the first MTA conference to be held outside Queensland.

”The heart of the nation is the perfect place to come together to reconnect and celebrate our successes,” the Merricks said.

”Canberra like MTA, represents innovation, achievement, growth, freedom and an Australian spirit which offers ‘more than expected’.”

Thanking the huge number of suppliers whose support of the event has made it a possibility, the Merricks said they were thrilled at the MTA family response to the conference and looking forward to catching up with everyone in Canberra.

Industry suppliers supporting the MTA conference include Carnival Cruise Lines, Creative Holidays, Etihad Airways,  Exotissimo Travel, Holland America, Insight Vacations, Lindblad Expeditions/National Geographic, Royal Caribbean International, Sabre Pacific, Seabourn Cruise Line, Silversea Cruises, Territory Discoveries, Trafalgar, Trails of Indochina, Uniworld and Virgin Australia.
