In-Season Sanma And Matsutake Bring September Delights To Kisso

Never staying still but closely reflecting the changing seasons, Kisso Japanese Restauran, THE WESTIN GRANDE SUKHUMVIT, BANGKOK welcomes the first month of autumn by specially importing two timely delicacies to add extra dimensions to its September menus.

Fulfilling its promise of offering authentic dining experiences identical to those in Japan,          Chef Yone has sourced steady supplies of ocean fresh Sanma fish and just-picked Matsutake mushrooms to arrive several times weekly so every morsel is in peak condition.

Sanma, or Pacific Saury, is one of Japan’s favorite fish, especially grilled whole. It is particularly loved for its lack of odour, distinctive bitterness and the fattiness it develops for the winter that so enriches its flavor.

Recommended dishes on Kisso’s seasonal menu featuring “Sanma” are priced from Baht 130++ to Baht 600++ and include: Grilled Sanma with Rock Salt, Sanma Sashimi, Sanma Sushi, Marinated Pacific Sanma with Citrus Vinegar Salad, and Fried Breaded Sanma with Yuzu Tartar Sauce.

Matsutake mushrooms are celebrated for their sweet aroma. Long, cylindrical tubers, they only appear in September and must be picked in the bud for the best flavor. Lightly seasoned, they are enjoyed equally on their own and in special dishes.

Dishes are priced from Baht 300++ to Baht 1,350++ and include Grilled Matsutake Mushroom Sushi, Hamo and Matsutake Mushroom Clear Soup in Tea Pot, Seared Miyazaki Japanese Wagyu Beef Matsutake Mushroom Butter Sauce, Matsutake Mushroom Tempura, and Fried Rice with Crab Meat and Matsutake Mushroom.
