In Touch With Africa At Motswari Private Game Reserve

September 18, 2013 Hotel News No Comments Email Email

There’s something enthralling about walking through the bush: the anticipation of seeing wildlife and being a silent witness to nature; or the thrill of sleeping in a tree house under the stars, with just the sounds of the bush to remind you of the magic of a world that is so abundantly alive.

The good news is that two new bush experiences have recently been launched at Motswari Private Game Reserve that will allow guests to truly get in touch with Africa – ‘a walking safari’ and an ‘overnight stay at The Giraffe’s Nest tree house’.

On the guided ‘walking safari’, guests leave the main lodge on the evening ahead of the hike to spend a night in a luxury tented camp. An early wake-up call from your guide sets the mood, before setting out on foot for an up-close-and-personal experience with nature. The Motswari tracker will point out all of nature’s messages and mystery en route, and perhaps even stumble across Africa’s Big (and Little) 5 in their natural habitat. Upon your return to the lodge, there’s a hearty breakfast to end off this rewarding excursion.

You have not experienced the magnificence of an African sunset if you have never stayed over at Motswari’s tree house ‘Giraffe’s Nest’. Safely three metres above the ground, overlooking the Xanatsi Dam, the tree house offers a great vantage point from which to view Mother Nature in all her glory. Once the sun has set, guests enjoy a delicious picnic complete with starlit skies and a soulful bush serenade. Luxury beds with crisp linen and mohair blankets provide comfort for the night, complete with an eco-bathroom (with a view).  An open canopy means you can enjoy the stars all night long on a clear night, but it also provides protection if the rains come. Nature provides a wake-up call and guests are picked up the next morning by rangers on the early-morning game drive.

Motswari Private Game Reserve is part of the prestigious Newmark Hotels, Reserves & Lodges portfolio and is set in the gorgeous Timbavati Nature Reserve in Limpopo, known for its abundant wildlife and wide-open spaces.  Winter months, May to September are often regarded as the best time to visit the bushveld as it is not so hot, whilst also a time to spot the game easier.
