The scope of Mantra Group’s partnership with the Australian Red Cross was demonstrated last week with the opening of the Pat Gosper Wellbeing Centre in Cairns.

The Centre will be a home away from home for people from rural and remote areas who need medical treatment in Cairns. Red Cross approached Mantra Group early in the build stage to provide advice and industry expertise on accommodation operations and met with local General Managers Winston Hall (Regional Manager), Chris Northam (GM Peppers Beach Club & Spa) and Tony Hughes (GM Mantra Trilogy) who provided best-practice advice on opening a new accommodation facility. Red Cross opening Cairns

“It’s been great to be able to provide support to Red Cross in other ways, in addition to the fundraising our hotels across the country do each year,” said Chris Northam, GM Peppers Beach Club & Spa.

“Offering our expertise in a particular area has been a rewarding experience.”

Red Cross publically thanked Mantra Group at the opening of the centre, which included guests such as the Governor of Queensland, Ms Penelope Wensley AC, Michael Legge President of Australian Red Cross, Kevin Keefe QLD Director and various local dignitaries.

With people in rural and remote communities suffering from poor health, reduced life expectancy and higher levels of disease and illness, the Centre will fill a real gap for people who are unable to access the quality and range of medical services as people can in the city. The Centre has been designed to reflect Red Cross’ well being model, with its sense of openness, welcome and homeliness, mirroring health and recovery.

Mantra Group is a National Humanity Partner of Australian Red Cross and supports their Good Start Breakfast Club program, an initiative providing breakfast to children in areas of greatest need around Australia.
